Amazed at how much food people pack in at a buffet

Last time we were at MGM, we ate at Hollywood and Vine. I would say the fare was so-so. I was interested in trying one of their pork chops, but every time I looked, they were gone. Finally, I saw a guy come out with a tray of I would say about 25 chops. I immediately got in line behind a few people, two of which were young kids around 12-14 years old. Well they each grabbed about 10 pork chops leaving none left for me. I don't know if they ever ate them all, but it was a case of buffet gluttony that I have never seen matched. Never did get a pork chop.

Anybody have any similar experience at buffets?

There's a whole thread on this, called something like "At buffets, do you ever think to yourself 'Pig!'" and also one about the alarming activities of other people at buffets.

I'd never take THAT much food at once but at a buffet I have no problems trying a little bit of everything and the returning for more of what I liked. IMO that's better than piling your plate full or something and then leaving it to waste because you didn't like it.
