You're going to have sooooo much fun!!!!
DH and I flew down for a 3 day weekend in Dec 2005 to celebrate my 40th bday. Kids were 5 and 8 at the time, and had just been in Oct that year for 2 weeks. The older one gave us the "that's not fair" when we first told them, to which I promptly replied "you've been to Disney 10 times, the last one just a month ago ... you're really not going to find anyone that feels sorry for you."
They stayed with their Aunt/Uncle and had a blast.
So last December, when the same opportunity came up for DH's 40th, they didn't even blink when we told them. They were so spoiled by their Aunt and Uncle that they didn't care about us in WDW whatsoever.
I will say though, DH and I thought it would be more relaxing, no kids, etc ... nope, even without them, we were the "commando theme-park'ers". But I have to say, one of my favourite parts was going to buy a Mickey bar for each of us and a $5 bill covered it.
I agree with the PP that said that some people just don't get it, when it comes to "how can you go without the kids." I loved having the time away, just the two of us, and we confirmed that we still love WDW, even without the kids.
ENJOY!!!
