Am I understanding this correctly?

I'm putting my final FP plans together so I can get them tomorrow morning.

We have 1 child who is likely going to be too short for FoP, it's 44" and he's currently 42.5" tall...I don't feel like he's going to grow 1.5" in 2 months.

So for our family of 4 I should be able to just get 2 FP for FoP for DH and DD and then I should be able to ride via rider swap with DD getting to ride a second time? And I don't need to get a FP for me, and obviously not for too short DS?

So I could potentially get 2 FP for FoP for DD and DH and 2 FP for something else for DS and me to do while DH and DD are riding FoP?

Is this cheating? Will it work out? Should I get 4 FP for FoP even though DS can't use his and thus he basically only gets 2 FP since the rest of us will use FoP?

I feel confused.

No you're not cheating, you're fine. Just book FP's for those who will be riding FoP the first time, and have one person wait with the one who's not tall enough outside the attraction, or do something else. When the first party comes off, they will have a child swap pass (not sure where they will receive it now, I've seen some attractions get it inside) and it's good for 3 people. So whomever did not ride can not ride with someone else, who can now ride again.

Get him some Sketchers. I bought some D'lites for my daughter and they add 1.5" height.

You're not confused - you have it exactly right. With a party of 4 with one too short it's ideal to split 2 and 2. First two are for the adult ride, second two are for the ride the waiting parent will do with the child while the first group rides. In this case, if you're talking about FoP, I'd ideally try to get 2 for that and 2 for Navi at same time so you'll be in the same area. Then when you're done with those, you can use the swap pass for FoP with DD riding again.

Here is the reply from @Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL from your other thread about Rider Swap - you may have missed the replies:

I would suggest getting a FoP FP for 1 adult and Molly. Then a Na'vi FP for the other adult and Henry at the same time of day. All four of you approach the FoP FP line and ask for a Rider Swap pass. The one adult and Molly ride FoP while the remaining adult and Henry go off to FP for Na'vi. After both groups of two are finished with their respective rides, the adult that rode Na'vi now goes back to FoP with the Molly and enters the FP line via the use of the Rider Swap pass. Of course, this means one adult and Molly won't get to ride Na'vi via the FP line unless you can somehow snag one later in the day as a 4th FP. If Molly is anything like our 9yo she won't mind though, because she'll be riding many of the best rides twice. If this strategy appeals to you, you can use it for all rides with a height requirement that Henry does not meet. (7DMT/Pooh, Space Mtn./Buzz, etc., etc.)

Measure him in his normal comfy shoes that he’ll wear at the parks. If he makes it at home, encourage him to stand straight and tall. Let him know he wants to touch the bar with the top of his head. If he doesn’t touch, he can’t ride. Note that the forces in our bodies from riding rides can cause us to temporarily shrink, so sometimes even immediate re-rides (not that that will be possible on the ride in question) might be impossible. Try any big rides as early as you can and make sure he’s rested and hydrated each day!!

If he’s nowhere near in his normal shoes don’t worry about making him artificially taller.

One thing I didn’t know before we came on our trip (we are here now) is that the rider swap fast passes have some grace time and don’t have to be used on the same day always. We have used rider swap a ton and have got quite the collection of fast passes right now that expire on 11/30. It’s nice that we can move to another attraction and come back to the ones we now have fp for. Also...we have been given rider swap fast passes using single rider lines, standby lines, and fast pass lines. Honestly it’s been the biggest timesaver of our trip.

Also this...my daughter made the cut for Everest and was turned away at FOP an hour later. Not sure if it was the ride forces or if there was discrepancy in the measuring...it was a little disappointing bc I wanted her to get to ride it!

The way you're describing is the way it has historically worked. However, there have been reports of CMs not giving RS from the FP line FPs unless everyone has FPs. They may have been anecdotal and they may have been wrong, but we've heard of people saying this happened to them.

I'm not saying it will happened, but some people have reported it happening to them. So if you're planning on using RS this way, just tuck away in the back of your head that there could be some risk involved. Probably not, but there could be.

Unless something has changed, the Rider Swap passes are usually through the end of the month. So, if you get the pass on 12/1/17, you have until 12/31/17. If you get the pass on 12/31/17, you have until the end of the day 12/31/17.
