I have purchased Memory Maker for our trip and I just want to be really clear in my understanding of what I have purchased. I was also curious as to the level of difficulty one would rank using Memory Maker so I added the poll. 1 being the most user friendly (easy), 10 being the least user friendly (hard). I just see a lot of questions about it and fear it being "over my head".

Please correct me where I'm wrong:

  1. Purchase Memory Maker.
  2. Get photos taken by park photographer or "passively" on rides.
  3. Look at website daily to ensure photos have been uploaded.
  4. Once we are home we have 30 days to edit our pictures and download them onto our computer.
  5. When the photos are downloaded onto our computer we can order prints, post them on social media, etc.
  6. If we do not download our photos within 30 days we will not be able to EDIT them, but we can still download them.

Is 1 most user friendly and 10 least? Or is 10 most user friendly and 1 is least user friendly?

We used the MDE app to look at our pictures soon after they were taken (didn't take more than 20 minutes to appear).

Also, I think you have 45 days to download and then they are gone. :)

1. Yes. You can purchase in advance for $149, which gives you rights to all photos taken after 3 days from purchase (any taken within that time will not be downloadable) or you can purchase the $169 product which gives you access to all photos in your account (if purchasing during or after the trip)
2. Yes
3. Yes. This can be done online or through the MDE app. Photos generally appear instantly but can take up to 24 hours.
4. Photos expire 45 days from when they were taken, so you have 45 days to edit/download
5. Yes. You will have a digital release form that allows you to order prints/post photos
6. No. You have 45 days.

The 30 days is how long you have to take photos once the MM is activated (Downloading a photo activates the product or purchasing through the app which automatically activates the product)
If you are just going for a single trip, then the 30 days will not matter. But for someone who visits twice in 75 days this is important)

Well, the question you ask is actually not easy to answer

MM itself is very easy.
But the website you use to view and edit the photos, not at all easy to use.
It's not that it's hard to operate it's that it's buggy as heck

Thanks for pointing that out. That's helpful information, isn't it?! :rolleyes1 I edited my original post to add it in. 1 is easy, 10 is hard.

Well, I voted 7-10 thinking that 10 was easy. Its easy to use but like AngiTN mentioned it is buggy.

Amen to that. I hate editing on that thing! Especially adding borders--I love how the site thinks it knows better than I do which borders should be available to me for a specific photo. It would be one thing if they were in the least relevant, but when I'm trying to add a Star Wars border to a picture from Jedi Training Academy and can't, well then we've got a problem!

We had no issues with the site. I prefer to do edits to pictures outside of a website, so downloading them was easy-peasy, and I still look through them (way too often, probably). The one thing to remember is to ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR MAGIC BAND SCANNED!! We are missing pictures with Phineas & Ferb, Mike & Sully, and one other character that I can't remember. By the time we realized, it was too late to do anything about it.

If you're purchasing, make the most of it. Stop for EVERY photographer. Ask them for the silly little additions. They don't always come out perfect, but they're a lot of fun! One of the photographers asked our son (then 4, on his first trip) to hold out his hand and look surprised. This was near then end of a LOOOOONG day. DS had no idea why he was asked to do that. Well, turns out, Tinkerbell was supposed to have landed on his hand. Well, someone forgot to tell Tink, but someone else decided to pop in. The look on his face is priceless!!

Other times you get your best memories captured perfectly.

The thing to remember is that most of the Memory Maker photographers are NOT professionals, nor do they have any desire to become professional photographers. So don't expect Ansel Adams to take his time composing the perfect shot. Just have fun with it, and DON'T FORGET TO SCAN YOUR BAND!!

The problem with this is you miss out on the borders Disney provides. That's why I get MM in the first place, for their borders.

Ah. Perhaps, if I get up the nerve to make a scrapbook or something, I'll give them more consideration this time around (Dec 2016). I'm terrible with printing them as it is.

Can extended family use MM or does everyone have to buy it separately? How many people in the family can link to one MM purchase so that our bands can all have pictures show up in the same place? Thanks.

Anyone who is a member of the purchasers friends and family list will have their pictures show up.
I do not know if there is a limit to the number a person can have on their list or not.
My family and friend list isn't that big, there are only select people I'll vacation with ;)

Worth noting, only the MDE account that bought MM can do the edits. Members of the Friend/Family list can LOOK at the pictures on their accounts, just can't edit them. So that means the purchaser makes all edits or shares their log in info with the others so they can sign in and do it too.

You really should. I don't scrap book but I do love the borders and designs.
Here's one I did with Snow from last Oct

Friends and family can edit the photos on their own accounts but the photos they edit will not show up on the purchasing MDE account therefore those edits would have to be paid for separate from the MM purchase. My niece was anxious to edit her photos on their account but they were not showing up on my account when she saved them. Luckily we discovered this before she wasted too much time editing. I just gave her my account info and let her have at it!

Sorry. I want clear but yes, you can technically edit them. I should have said shouldn't, instead of can't. Point remains the same, don't edit them in the individual account. Edit in the account that bought it
