The Villa pool at VWL will be unavailable through 2017 because of the work they are doing at the beach area?? Gosh, the Spring pool with the bubbles is a huge part of why I love VWL, and we were so happy to be staying there this December. Wasn't it just overhauled 1-2 years ago? Or maybe time just flies as I am getting older!

That's what they seem to be saying I think you're correct about the refurb 1-2 years ago as that was also the time they were speculating fences would be going up around all the pools although they seem to just be doing the feature pools so far I think. However they aren't going to be just refurbing it but expanding it. The Springs pool was definitely our favorite quiet pool - probably our favorite pool overall.

Isn't this part of the Wilderness Lodge expansion? If so, aren't the plans calling for a significant enlargement and enhancement of the villa pool and deck? If so, it does not surprise me that it would take through 2017 for the work to be completed.

To expand a pool? I think you've become accustomed to Disney construction. Hopefully 2017 is just the entire project and they plan on re-opening things like the pool sooner.

Hi Bobbi,
I was shocked as well since my parents were going to stay in February and love the quiet pool. Now I may have to switch at the 7 month window. I looked on some refurb Disney websites and the pool re-opening says TBD and they are not taking any spa service appointments at Hidden branches from October to early February. Oh dear. What are they doing to my Lodge.

To expand a pool? I think you've become accustomed to Disney construction. Hopefully 2017 is just the entire project and they plan on re-opening things like the pool sooner.

You are probably right; the entire Wilderness renovation/expansion project may take until 2017 or 2018 before its completed, but parts of it may come online much sooner than that.

I'm not sure I would consider the changes to the VWL quiet pool as a simple expansion. Based on the plans I have seen, the entire area around the pool -- from the VWL wing to the beach on Bay Lake -- is undergoing a major transformation. The quiet pool is being enlarged, but Disney is also adding new structures near the pool. It also looks like Disney is moving the location of VWL hot tub.

Based on information coming from the Poly, it looks like it will take Disney 6+ months to do the renovations at the Poly's East Pool. I suspect the work involving the VWL pool is far more extensive than what is happening at the Poly's East Pool. If Disney starts the Wilderness renovation in October 2015, then I don't imagine the VWL would reopen until late 2016 at the earliest.

Oh dear. What are they doing to my Lodge.

I'm afraid you're right, Bobbi. We just keep our fingers crossed that they leave as many trees as possible. It will certainly change the look & feel of VWL.

I hope that this time they put a ZERO entry in the rehab pool. How foolish since they retiled the main pool anyway that they did put it in the main pool. So do we expect a wimpy slide too? 20 villas x 6 person = 120 more people and half will be on the other side of the main lodge...do we really need to substantially enlarge our beloved pool?
