New here - sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I'm about 5'8", 320lbs. I've been trying to lose weight for my upcoming trip. Snagged a FP for FoP. Nervous I won't fit and if I should even bother keeping it...
I carry my weight mostly in my thighs/hips/butt. I have BIG thighs and a wide butt. My calves aren't very big at all and my tummy is big but nothing extreme, in my opinion... I wear a size 3X in most shirts, size 26 (last I checked) in pants.

Will I be too big? Since it's a motorcycle style seat, I figured I'd be ok and my butt/thighs wouldn't interfere, but I have no idea...

Give it to me straight, doc.

I think you should be fine. People who have problems are tall people with long legs who cannot bend their knees on the ride vehicles.

In any case, there's a test seat outside the ride that you can try before going on the ride.

My legs are on the tad longer side, but I don't think they're too bad. Thanks, I'll have to try the test seat. I wasn't sure if they had one.

I'm 6-1, 335 and couldn't fit. But others who are larger have reported being able to ride. I fit the test chair but not the ride.

This is my suggestion: if you're worried about it, go by yourself. Let the rest of your group go on without you -- have to go to the bathroom at the last second or something. The CMS will try and they are very nice, but it is embarrassing and I would have preferred to avoid it. However, I will say they gave my whole party anytime FPs for my embarrassment, and they were able to go on it again. There's no real risk in trying, because the CMs will give you a FP you can use somewhere else, but if you're going to be embarrassed in front of friends or family, then find a way to be in a different room than them.

If you browse the forums, there's a whole thread on this with lots of tips. Good luck, and don't let not fitting wreck your day.

Yeah leg length or leg size seems to be the main problem for restraints

Ah, I know how embarrassing it is. I've been through that situation at an amusement park when I was 150lbs lighter and I STILL somehow didn't fit! I'd hate to not try, though, as this may be the only chance I'll ever get to go to Disney! That's nice they give FPs, good to know there's nothing really to lose by trying... minus my dignity if I don't fit of course, :p jokes.

Thank you for the kind words. I'll have a look around the forum.

When we rode last week, the woman beside me didn't fit and had to leave. She was really embarrassed, and I felt so bad for her. I've been there and done that prior to weight loss. She carried almost all of her weight in the hips/butt area. Her legs were not large. For me, the time I didn't fit (pre weight loss), it was because of my calves.

I’m 350 and I fit (barely) I think in part cause I prepared. Your best bet is to go on in athletic shorts and flip flops.

Athletic shorts: You need to be able to slide forward after you’re already seated, and the seat is like tar. Your pants could be made of Teflon and they wouldn’t slide on it. You want to wear shorts that allow your underwear to slide on the shorts. You will be happy you did this.

Flip flops: similar issue with your feet. You need them as far forward as possible *after* your knees and butt are in the right spots. You will not have the ability to adjust once the flaps come out. you want footwear that you can slide your foot forward on, because your shoes are not moving no matter how hard you try.
I would also suggest watching this video, and asking them to let you practice where to put your feet on the test seat. If you try a few times, you’ll know what to do.

Good luck!

I think some of it also depends on the CM who is locking you into the seat. My nephew is a big guy and the CM was able to lock the back up with no problem. A few days later and a different CM couldn't get it to lock for him. Good luck!

I fit when I went a week ago and I am 250 pounds at the moment and only 5'3" tall. VERY pooh sized! My everything is big, but especially my calves, hips and thighs. I have quite an impressive tummy as well! LOL!
Flight of Passage is a nice ride. I know that I would try to ride it. Shimmy forward your feet and body as much as you can, or at least that is what I did. The machine just clicked into place. It is a relief when it does so.
I will say, however, on a previous trip a CM came behind me and had to push something to get it closed properly. Nothing was said and I was fine with the situation. She was very discreet. And I loved the ride!

Good luck!

Keep the FP at least. as @whiporee said, they will give you another FP (for your entire party too) if you can't ride, so there is no risk. My friend could not ride - he is about 6'3" and over 300 pounds, though I don't know his exact weight. His height may have contributed a lot to it though, as he is a big guy, big shoulders, long legs. Even if he lost the excess weight, he'd still be a large fella.

Best of luck to you!

I'm 5'9 306 pounds

I've been lucky enough to ride FOP 6 times now and I've never had an issue. 4 of the 6 times the cast member didn't have to touch anything and I think the other 2 times it was a slight push and everything was golden.

And tippy toes. When seated in the chair, tippy toes will make the brace lock at a lower (and narrower) part of the leg.

This is good information for me to think about for future. We're planning on bringing our nephew in a couple of years and DH has been telling him all about this ride. He's not terribly good with thrill rides though is interested in this one but he's 6'7". He's skinny(ish) - he's only 17 so I'm guessing he'll fill out a bit within the next few years - but his legs are really long. We may need to prepare for the fact that he simply won't fit. I guess that means he might not fit a number of the rides - I'll need to review and set expectations.

To the OP - if you do go ahead and try it and are able to have the seat properly locked, you may feel uncomfortable at first. But once the ride starts, you'll be so involved in the experience you will probably forget about it. So give it a chance and don't bail if you feel a bit cramped or hemmed in as soon as you load. They need to make sure it's snug for safety.

As far as height goes, long calves seem to be the main issue. A person with their height in their torso has a better shot than a person with their height in their legs, and a person with their leg length in their thighs will have a better shot than a person with their leg length in their calves. My tiny calves are I think the only reason the CM was able to make it work on my otherwise big and tall body.

Shoes can't be stressed enough.
If you wear bulky shoes (like crocs or some big soled sneakers) then you may not get your foot up forward enough for the leg restraints to come up. You want the shoe with the smallest profile you can find. Heck, bring them along and change if they aren't comfy enough for all day in the park.
