Am I the only one who wishes deluxe studios had king size beds

For Disney, it’s only 20 more inches of room space. For me, it can be the difference between me sleeping with my significant other’s knee in my back or not. I don’t need more room space - just more bed space. I hope this doesn’t sound like too much of a first world problem lol.

How would that affect the room capacity? I cannot imagine that a sleeper sofa/queen Murphy sofa bed would still fit if a king size bed were to replace the queen bed. As much as I prefer to sleep in a king bed (had to share a full size with my husband this weekend and nearly fell out because he took up the middle and more), I'm content with leaving the studios as they are...

...unless DVC decides to get rid of those little under the TV beds in BRV, BCV & BWV.

Nope I like the Queen beds. I like to cuddle so we actually dislike the king beds when we stay in a one bedroom.

We have a king @ home and therefore "need" a king on vacation or then there is too much touching going on!

We therefore reserve 1 BRs for us when we stay DVC vs. just a studio..

AND we have a reservation for BWI in November, and we dont know if its a king or 2 queens - but if we get 2 queens, then we each get our own bed! :rotfl2:

You are not the only one that wishes for that. :thumbsup2 It's become more the norm in hotels than maybe back in 1991 when DVC started and DVC is a bit behind in sticking with the queens in the studios.

I don't mind the queen, but then DH and I sleep on a queen back at home so we are used to it!

What I do wish they would have is have a small nightstand on each side of the bed instead of one nightstand on one side of the bed only. They have the two little nightstands on the Disney cruise and on some DVC resorts (Riviera comes to mind) and it makes SUCH a difference compared to the older resorts that don't have it. I tend to wake up a few times in the night, and like to have a cup of water within arms reach and be able to reach over and grab my phone. And my DH likes to be near the nightstand too because he often needs to have his phone or tablet plugged in to charge while he reads before bed. So on our last stay in a BRV studio, we were constantly trying to be the first to get ready for bed to nab the coveted nightstand side!

We have a queen (which we also share with 2 cats) but absolutely prefer kings when we travel. If we end up with 2 queen beds we usually each take one, the space is definitely a luxury. Especially when we do a lot of walking.

If you need more bed space, the 1BRs are your answer. Might need to pony up for an add-on... :)

But studios aren't going to change.

(As for me, I bought OKW because I like that their studios have 2 actual queen beds.)

I was just thinking that this morning, we definitely need that king bed, our kid will only sleep with us on vacation.

I’m just use to having space of a king sized bed and I sleep hot. I’ll book at RIV or SSR and jump in the murphy beds if it’s an issue. I don’t want to do 12 miles in the park and not get great sleep. And I don’t want to spend the points of a 1BR JUST for a king bed. We’ll see.

the irony is I’ve also considered the towers at RIV as a way to save points. Haha. I know - I’m a walking contradiction. If only I ran the world - queens in the towers; kings in the studios.

This is my husband's #1 complaint. I wish there was even just a way to have a few studios with kings that could be requested!

It does give me an excuse to book 1 bedrooms, but points go so fast that way.

If there were a few studios with king beds, DH and I might book them for short trips.

I am in a Riviera Deluxe studio right now and looking at the queen size bed and placement you would lose at least one night stand with a King. There would still be room for the Queen murphy bed perhaps, but it would be tight.

Put me in the "I want a king bed in studios" category.

I'm an NFL linebacker-sized guy, with a normal sized wife. We have a king at home because, frankly, sleeping in a queen means my feet are off the end of the bed -or- I have to sleep diagonal which leaves my wife no leg/foot space. I know... "big deal, your feet are off the send of the bed..." but, if you haven't ever experienced sleeping like that, I encourage you to try it, only to find out how much your ankles and calves hurt after 8 hours of sleep!

Yes, I know. I could book a 1 bedroom. But, we don't need 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, kitchen table, and all that extra space. And, we don't want to spend double the points to get something we don't need!

This is me exactly! I’m a big guy. I know a queen size works for some people, but it’s really iffy for us. I just think a “deluxe” studio accommodation should have a king sized bed. I’m with you - I don’t need the 1BR for any other reason than the size of the bed.

I'd go with a king in the studio, plus a love seat for sitting only and no murphy bed since there wouldn't be enough room for a king and a murphy/sleeper sofa. And make them sleep only two plus one under the age of three. If you have three persons over age three or four people, you'd need a one bedroom.

That would almost certainly have a large negative effect on sales (but I would like it, too). :). I hate what they did to the BWV studios!

No, I’m perfectly happy with a Queen sized bed (and have a very tall DH). When we are in a King sized, we find that we cling to the “outside edges” of the bed and there’s an acre of wasted space in the middle.

I would also hate for the studios to be couples only; that would price a lot of families out...

A queen size bed is 6’8” tall. Y’all should have saved your NBA money to go to the Four Seasons.
