Am I the only one who likes to use a stroller?

O.K. first - let me explain. We have 2 teen dd's,a 6 yr old dd and a 3 yr old dd.
I know that everyone says that having to drag your own or rent a stroller is a pain but we found it so much easier. AND... we brought our own and rented one too!

The 2 little ones really wanted to walk at first, but that always ended quickly. Also- Before we left, I saw alot of threads about how old is too old to use a stroller - about getting funny looks from other people etc.

I was a little worried about this too. My dd 6 has autism so we rented one for her. I thought the rentals were perfect for her size. The funny looks thing was total non issue. Nobody cares!

The best part for me and my dh was how much faster we could move through the parks. The kids were so much more rested and in happier moods which as you all know, can really make or break a vacation.

I'm just wondering if anyone else feels like we do?

Our first trip my DD had just turned 4 and we rented one, this year (febuary26- mar 5 !!) She is 5 and we will rent one again. The more rested she is the longer we can stay at the park!!

No you arent the only one. On my last trip I have my own 2 DS4 DD2 in a double i brought. on 3 different occasions i also took my freinds 2 (boy5 and girl3) I took them to MNSSHP with 2 teens to help with the stroller pushing. We got the free stroller at the party. A few nights later on Halloween we went to DTD for trick or treating. I only had my own stroller there and the kids all fought over it. I wanted to keep the younger 2 grils in it but the boys kept pushing them out! The last day i took them to the parsk and rented a second double. Well worth the price! They all fell asleep inthe strollers except my son he never naps!

I use a large-size stroller for my 9yo who has autism and some mild mobilitiy issues. he can walk, but he can't walk all day. And in a big place like WDW, it's just safer for him to be confined at times. He has no fear and would go off with anyone. He's also a "runner" so he can get away fast. We let him walk when we know he can hang on to him, but in crowds--you betcha he goes in the stroller.

When DD4 and I went in December, I considered going without a stroller for the first time. I'm glad I ended up using one. I can move around a lot faster pushing her than it would take for her to walk with me. Also, if I didn't have the stroller, her little legs would get tired and she'd want me to carry her. Our next trip will be a cruise for her 5th birthday, so I won't have the stroller question. The next time we go to WDW will probably be when she's 5 1/2. I don't know what I'll do then. She'll have passed the weight limit for her stroller so I'll either have to rent one or try it all on foot.

we are getting another one from walmart (I need one for my car anyway). It costs around $30.00 and is a hybrid of an umbrella and a cruiser style. It is small, easily foldable and has all the things the larger ones have (canopy, basket, drink holders, etc...). Besides, I like to think of it as my "man purse". LOL DW says that I'm an idiot.

We brought our own double stroller this last trip and ended up renting a double also!

Our kids are 9, 7, 5, and 4. No one gave us a strange look, or at least I was too busy having fun to notice them!

This was so much nicer. No one argued over who got to sit. The kids were rested. Not to mention there was room for everyone to sleep during the MVMCP! LOL

When we go in December, I plan on renting a double for my kids who will be 6 and 4 at the time. As others have mentioned, I want them to be rested so everyone can enjoy themselves. Plus, when they're in the stroller, I don't have to worry about them getting lost or separated from us.

I have 3 boys, now ages 9, 7, and 2. We have always brought our double stroller. The 9 yr old has not used the stroller the last 2 trips, but our 7 yr old still likes to ride as he has flat feet and is in a lot of pain after walking for any length of time (yes, he has prescription orthodics). We are planing a trip for October and would like to only bring a single stroller, but I am definately considering the double again.

We just got back last Sunday, and we took strollers for both our DDs. The younger one used the stroller a lot, and it was nice to have another one for the older girl. I don't remember getting any funny looks when my DD5 was in the stroller.

I think the only way I'd get looks is if I were in the stroller. All 6'4" 250lbs of me!

Well...we leave on Feb 9th for 10 days...my son will have just turned 5 and my daughter is 6 1/2 (they're both small for their ages). We just purchased two great Combi lightweight strollers from Target for $30 each. I decided that by the time we rent them, we'll have paid that much anyway.

We never use strollers at home anymore and it was pretty humorous...when the strollers arrived last week, the kids were so excited! They've been testing them out around the house and they think it's a real novelty!

I just know that we won't get through a day without someone needing a place to rest or nap so I think we made a good purchase. Last year we rented a double stroller but I kinda like the idea of two separate ones in case Dad and I want take the kids in different directions at any time.

Love the strollers! Our kids will be 7, 6 and 4 when we go this summer and I can't imagine not using them. We would move at a snail's pace if we walked with the kids. Plus nobody's whining that they are tired and I get a place to stick my junk. I'll be disappointed when they finally stop using them.

My children are 5 and 8. I used the double this past dec. DD (8) insists on it. I read on the boards people talking about a cut-off age. Nobody cares, my kids were happy, I feel it is easier when they can sit as we go around the parks. I know where they are and I don't need eyes behind me.
Its also nice to keep bags.
I bring my lightwight when we go to Downtown Disney and resorts.
Everybody has opinions..strollers, missed school.. we are adults and should do what is better for us.

We went w/ Ds 4 and dd 1. Was concerned he wouldn't fit into an umbrella stroller but he did and LOVED having it. It is a LOT of walking! And in the morning, when you're making a mad dash to a certain ride, or at the end of the day, when you're leaving the park...it is a GODSEND. Not to mention at parades....or anytime your child just wants to chill for a bit. At 4, he wasn't using a stroller at home at all, but at disney....he was thrilled.

This next trip he will be 5.5 and dd will be 2.5. We know we're bringing one for her...and I don't think he'll fit in the umbrella. My concern is if I rent...dd will probably want to sit in the rental w/ her brother....but then, at the end of the day, we won't have a stroller to take out of the parks. Waiting in those bus lines it's nice to have a place for the young ones to sit. And then it's SO much easier to stroll back to the room then carry them and your stuff. So, I'm just hoping he can somehow fit in the umbrella one and we won't need to rent. The stroller we use for dd is a collapsable one easy for the buses, but unlike a true umbrella, it has a basket underneath which is SO handy. I really love that stroller. Surprised to hear it's available at WalMart. That's great! I haven't seen a replacement for this since we bought it at TRU 3 yrs ago.

I'm with all of you...looks or no looks, my 5 yo dd rode one proudly! Hey, I'm the mom and I got POOPED out, there's no way a little one can do all that walking and have a good time,right? Besides, they really do make good storage holders for the rest of us!

When we traveled in the parks last year my DD(5) and DS(8) fit very nicely in a rental double stroller. DD is very small for her age and could have gotten lost in a crowd real easy and DS has asthma and sometimes has difficulty breathing after long walks. Not one person gave us any funny looks about DS being too old for the stroller. He enjoyed the park and DS took a nap in it while he rode rides with DH that she was too small to go on.

As long as I wasn't running anyone over, I see no reason not to rent the stroller (or bring your own.) Whatever makes your experience more enjoyable.

Strollers! Strollers! Strollers!
Yes, we use them for both our 4 and 7 year old boys. They are a must have for all of the reasons mentioned before and... we have encountered both the flu and strep on our Disney vacations! Strollers are a must for our trips!

DS6 and DD2.5 - we took two strollers last fall and only needed one of them, but I would rather have them and not need them than otherwise. When we go next month, we'll only bring one stroller, but are prepared to rent one if needed


and could care less what other people think of having a 6 YO in a stroller!
