Am I the only one who finds this awkward ?!

I agree with feeling a little awkward...but I also try to kinda turn the ECV so I can just drive straight away after the meet and greet. But...don't worry about others thoughts...have a great time and do what is best for YOU!! :)

I think a lot of people in scooters and wheelchairs can walk some. Our son was waiting for leg surgery and could walk but if we had let him walk all day he would have been in a lot of pain. So we made him ride. We had to make him too. Sometimes he complained loudly. ('I don't know why you are making me ride I can walk fine") Then when we let him up to board or get a picture he took off running. I was embarrassed at first but a 'security guard' gave my son a ticket for impersonating Grumpy and he told me there are a lot of people like that at the park. So we quit worrying about it. (We would have still made him ride anyway but I felt better too)

Try not to worry about other people, some people are just jerks and will judge no matter what and that is their problem not yours.

My daughter (15) does not require a wheelchair for daily use but she has to when we go to places that require a lot of walking. She has a condition called POTS and she gets easily exhausted, has heart issues and will pass out. So when we are at Disney she is in a chair even if she says she doesn't need it mostly because we don't need to be visiting the hospital on vacation. Our last trip she was so worried about people judging her. It was our first day and the Mad Hatter was fantastic with her. She told him how weird she felt in it and said she thought people were judging her. He was so kind and explained that she needed to take care of her health and try not to focus on what people might be thinking. And that was the last time she worried about it. On that trip we saw 32 different characters and moving the chair was a little awkward and took more time but it is what it is. I doubt we ruined anyone's experience by taking a few minutes to get it out of the way. Enjoy your trip!
