I usually do 1 Char PS and thats it for a 10 day trip. Just me and DD. We just walked into Sci-Fi and had no trouble. This was in Dec. They also tried to get us in a couple places that weren't busy as we walked by.

Why all the ressie's. I just can't tell where I will be when, we just go and go ... no way to tell where we will be what day. Unless we are at a special ticket night.

How do you all do this? And why? It seems to HAVE to be somewhere in vaca, well that is icky. I can see with a big family, but otherwise...

hmmmm

No Miss Missy, you are not alone.

We have ressies for the CP package and will probably make ressies for the night we're doing MVMCP, other than that we decide sometime in the morning where we want to eat and call at that time. We've never been disappointed.
We usually like to eat when the restaurants first open for dinner so maybe that helps.

I'm not organized enough to think all that out in advance.

So what are the chances of getting in places like Crystal Palace, 1900, Sci-Fi, Chef Mickey's, etc. in the middle of September without a PS ? Normally it might not be so bad but with the free dining promotion there are going to be a lot of people (like us) eating TS meals who wouldn't normally have done that, so I'm afraid it may still be crowded.

I decide what parks I want to visit each day. I figure this out based on which parks are least croweded on particular days.

It doesn't seem like I have to be somewhere at a certain time since I make the reservations for our normal breakfast and dinner times.
Besides, there are many restaurants that are increasing in popularity. I don't want to risk not being able to eat at some of my favorite restaurants. Also, I don't like counter service at all.

I'm a PS girl, and I also plan an itinerary that we pretty much stick to. Call me anal or obsessive compulsive...I don't like to be unprepared. That's just me and my type A personality though...I'm sure others can "wing" it and have just as good of a trip! ;)

I wouldn't do any of those mentioned without a PS. We do Chef Mickey's every trip, and they are usually so busy they are turning people away w/o PS's.

We really alternate. We hadn't done any seatings for quite a while due to finances but could over the summer. I made Sci Fi and Le Cellier seatings and then decided just on Sci Fi. When my husband found out I cancelled Le Cellier, he said "I like that joint". So that was on the "schedule" for the next trip. Those were Memorial Day and Fourth of July. For Labor Day, we are winging it.

For us, it just depends on if we know we'll be at a particular park on a particular day. For Memorial Day, we knew we'd be at MGM and I really am not a fan of their counter service. Sci Fi was perfect for us.

Seatings are fine but there are so many options. I used to make a seating every single day. Husband and the then teenager son didn't like having to be somewhere at a particular point in time. I eventually started bagging making advanced arrangements.

While we were there in June we saw lots of people turned away at places that we had PS for. I think that the dining plan has made it a bit more difficult for walk ins. It helps that it's just 2 in your party. I didn't want to take any chances for my spur of the moment trip in October. It will be just DH and myself but I just don't want to take any chances.
