Am I the only one.....Flame Tree BBQ!

It's not just you. We were so excited to try it after all the rave reviews and we thought it was terrible. We had the ribs and pulled pork sandwich, both were fatty, cold and bland.

We actually LOVED our meal at FTBBQ however...

My mom and I split the ribs meal, and the first ribs they gave us were almost completely fat. Really, not acceptable. I went back to the counter and politely asked if they could replace my meal with different ribs, and they did without question. The second plate we got was much better, and we found our entire meal to be delicious.

I would say that if you get food that is not up to your standards (i.e: overcooked, too much fat, etc), speak up! It has saved many a meal for us, and while paying Disney prices, we have certain expectations to be met. CMs have never been anything but gracious to us, but we do keep in mind to be polite and respectful for them!!

but I have to say..."it is such a turn off to be circled by ducks/pelican looking birds begging for food and have them literally walk over your feet. It sometimes makes me say "no not eating there this time". I wish they had a better seating area that the birds could not get into.

Awwwww, that's part of the fun for us. DD loves to see the birds close up. But I guess it is kind of gross when you think of the cleanliness aspect of it. LOL

it could've just been a bad time, b/c we went there the first time and the ribs were a bit fatty but still good, the next year we went they were much leaner.

Sci Fi has always been consitently good!!

Just recently ate at Flame Tree and thought the ribs were dry and fatty also. Very disappointed as we have eaten there in past years and it was good.

The ribs at Sci Fi were 110x better and Sci Fi gets shabby reviews!!

110x better? I have told you 1 million times, don't exaggerate.:rotfl2:

We really like Flame Tree but I think it is the total package that does it. I love the corn bread and beans. I usually get the ribs but my kids always get the chicken and I think it is better.

To top it off, the eating area by the water is the best at WDW.

I think for a counter service....it is good. We ate there once & didn't like it. It's been awhile though. I totally agree with the above post. I don't want to eat anywhere that I have to compete for my food. :p To me, it's nasty!

We ate there last year cause we heard it was so great and it was not. We got a table by the water and the water STUNK so bad I think that it made the food taste worse :earseek: !

Have it on my list to try it again this year. We'll see...

I always have the chicken and DH always has the pork sandwich. We've always enjoyed our food there. (We usually send DH off to Restaurantasaurus for food for both DS's) and meet back to eat on the water. We've had alligators circling below us which was a really cool way to eat! We did NOT feed them! But I guess others have .... All in all we like this restaurant. Not a bad meal there for us!

I have been one of those with Flame Tree on my favorites list. During this trip, though, they were out of both french fries and onion rings before noon! The beans are still good, but the corn, however mushy it used ot be, still beats the Costco-type corn muffin that they now serve IMHO! DD thought the chicken was kind of "fleshy" (meaning not cooked all the way through). I forget what DS and DH had, but it wasn't memorable. Now we have an excuse to try different places!

My bad....did I say 110x better??? I meant 100x better...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Seriously though...Sci Fi's ribs were superior compared to FTBBQ. HOWEVER...even Sci Fi's ribs were lacking. I guess I always thought people raved about the ribs....maybe it was the chicken???? I am just not a person that orders a BBQ chicken when out....that is more something I cook at home. I am weird that way..some things I just will not order out.

We ate there this week. It was terrible! The ribs were fatty and dry. Then, my bake beans were hard. I had been looking forward to eating there and was very disappointed.

I am not a fan either. I thought the ribs were dry and I hated the rub they put on them. I liked the cornbread muffin though and the beans were ok. I also can't stand their seating arrangement--I felt like I had to walk too far to find a seat and I ended up spilling the drink I had on the tray--ok, so that complaint might be weak, but I was still mad! ;)

I had the chicken and my son had the ribs at Flame Tree BBQ in March 2006 - and both were dry. I won't go there again. I'll take the hot Italian sandwich at Pizzafari in the nice, air-conditioned building every time.
