Am I the only crazy one NOT enticed by BLT?

Now that BLT is becoming available for purchase, of course there are many threads here dedicated to it. I can't help it, but I'm just not feeling it for this one and let me explain why...

I saw the DVC show on the Travel Channel. At the end they showed the villa in BLT. I was not impressed at all with the look of the villa. I did not care for the decor. This is of course just my own personal opinion. I know that one of the things that attracts people to BLT (and to the other regular Disney deluxe hotels in the area) is the monorail. I used to think I would prefer staying on the monorail line, but then when I looked more into the deluxe resorts and eventually into DVC, the Epcot area seemed more appealing to us (walking to 2 theme parks is very enticing, plus the central location to the rest of WDW). So I did not feel so much excitement by BLT being officially announced.

Am I the only one who feels this way? People seem to be super-excited about owning and/or staying at this property. But I am just not feeling it the same way. I'm very happy for the people out there who want DVC but never bought until now because they always prefer bring on the monorail line. Now those people have that chance to stay on the monorail line as members. But out of all the Disney resorts, when we were there in July, I did think the Contemporary (although very nice) had less of that "Disney Magic" feeling than the others we saw (BW, BC, GF, Pop Century, Poly, AK). I suppose it was the fact that it did not have a specific "theme" to it as the others did.

Does anyone else feel this way about BLT? Am I missing something and totally nuts to be thinking this way? By the way, we are in the process of closing on a resale at BWV. Now that to me has the magic, and the best location for us, so that is why we bought there.

You are not the only one I have absolutly no desire to buy there or stay there I did an add on at AKV the day after the announcement of BLT and I could have waited a few days and done BLT but I had no desire to even look at the model rooms, which my guide offered to show me. I think I am in the minority however cause I also don't get the infatuation with SAB the the people who say xxxx resort is too far away.

I didn't have a desire until I saw the picture of the villa with the view of Cinderella's Castle...can't get much more Magical than that! If I lived closer to WDW I might add on, but for now my sites are set on VGC and Hawaii!

You know I don't really have any desire to buy into BLT either, but I can understand why some people would love to own there. I have heard that the rooms are much nicer in real-life instead of the pictures posted here on the DIS. They say the pictures just don't show it off. That said, I love my home resorts and I know that are tons of people who don't want either one of those because they are so far away from everything. However, my husband and I are of the age that we enjoy both the parks and the quiet so we love being able to go back to our resort and just relax without the hustle and bustle. We have tried several of the resorts and there are things about each one that we like and things that we dislike. I think that is the beauty of DVC, something of everyone. So eveyrone who loves BLT, I am happy for you and for those of us that like something else, I am happy we have other choices.

Can't wait to go back to WDW and enjoy all it has to offer!

Obviously you have not seen all the threads where BLT was referred to as "ugly" or "cheesy" here. I think there are actually more threads of people who don't like the BLT than there are of those who do like the BLT. It was pretty bad for awhile.

It's not for me, but that is what makes DVC so unique. Something for everyone. I am certainly not going to ever run it down (not this thread, but others) I know that some will just love it. As for location, it's great, it's just not me.

I can see how many people would like BLT. But I am not one of them. I am a happy AKV owner. I love the theme of our resort and the decor of the rooms. And the svannas....well, we have them.

If I were to add on again at a different resort, it would likely be BWV as we are Epcot people.

Anyone know if that travel channel special will be on again? I have not seen it.

Every new DVC gets a lot of new threads, SSR and the new 50 years was the only way to go at one time.

You didn't check the old threads back far enough. There are at least a dozen threads with a bunch of people who didn't care for it and won't be buying.

That makes the people who are dying to get in very happy.

The only thing enticing to me about BLT is the location. The decor appears sterile to me. But I'm not a fan of AKL either. I'm grateful we have the choices we do.

The location is A+, but the price/point and points required are way out of line.

I don't care for some of the other DVC's but I don't start threads about them.

We're not a cult. We are a conglomorate of timeshare owners with different tastes and different levels of expectations. BLT satisfies a certain snapshot of that group; just as the next new resort will too.

I have to admit that one of the appeals of DVC to us was the sheer diversity of accomodations and amenities available. That facet appeals to some more than others.

Look at my home resorts. If that ain't diversity, I'll hush.

I also don't have the desire for BLT but for another reason. We don't really like MK as much as some other parks so there is no advantage to us to stay near there. We did stay once at the Contemporary but only because we were attending a convention there. I would much rather be somewhere that's less hectic on a daily basis.

No love for the BLT here either, but that just means that those who are in love with this resort won't have to fight me for a ressie, and now I won't have to fight with them for a ressie somewhere else.

Why are you surprised that not everyone loves BLT? Not everyone loves BWV, BCV, VWL, AKV, SSR, OKW, VB, and HHI.

Think of the DVC resorts as different colors. You may love blue and hate red; someone else may love green and hate yellow. Does it really matter? I could care less what your favorite color is. I'm just going to buy my favorite color and be happy with it.

Why not let each person enjoy their favorite DVC resort?

I don't think that we will be buying BLT either. We are not big fans of the original Contemporary and I think that we will feel the same way about BLT.

We also don't buy on hype sight unseen. We want to check the completed resort out first so we can really get a feel for the place.

The view of the MK would be nice, but if we don't buy, there is a good chance that the view rooms will be gone at 7 months.

I agree! I'm not crazy about them all. But then again, I was never crazy about staying in the Contemporary either. I am a Poly and Wilderness Lodge guy. As for DVC, I believe Patrick Henry said it best: "Give me the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge or give me...uh...er...." Well maybe he didn't say it, but you get the meaning.

I'll probably stay there at some point, but have no desire to own there. I think it gives us a different choice though, it is a unique resort, very different than what is currently available.

We aren't fans of the CR and the BLT has no lure for us, but I can see how people who love CR love it We're AKV lovers
