We are supposed to sail March 27th. We are considering moving our cruise, but the only one that works for our family leaves on March 28, 2021, so outside of the 12-month booking period.

BUT.

I booked this cruise last year when we cruised, leaving on March 29th. Since I booked it onboard, don’t I have a 24 month window? So as long as I leave BY March 29, 2021???

Am I making this up? I emailed my TA but haven’t heard back.

You are mixing apples with oranges.

The 24 month window is to use a placeholder.

The 12 month window is the temporary DCL allowing you to shift a cruise that is inside PIF with no penalty.

Sorry; it doesn't apply.

Ah, I see. Since I am already past the PIF I forfeit the ability to move around. Gotcha.

shoot.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

DCL is in the middle of a massive, chaotic rebooking mess and you think that they are going to start making exceptions right now? Not a bloody chance.

Exactly. I thought I was being so smart haha, but even thought it is ONE day difference for the cruise we want next year...it’s a no-go.

have no idea, but this is where DCL should just let u switch.
There was someone on another one of these discussions categories wanting to move her Alaska cruise from this May to May '21 a little more then 12months and DCL would not allow. In my opinion it's really short sighted on DCL part.

Good Luck, I hope it works out for you.

Pretty sure that was me. SIX days difference and they won't do it! Am booked for Alaska 5/25/20. Can't do Alaska 5/24/21 because that will be finals week for my kids so I was hoping I could do the next one leaving 5/31, but nope. Ridiculous in my opinion especially since next years cruise is $1500 more expensive and I said I had no problem paying the difference. I've been saving for this cruise for so long and only want Alaska so not willing to throw the money away on some other cruise I don't really care for. So instead, I will cancel and lose my deposit. Disney will lose my money other than the deposit and all my future business because, not only have they left a bad taste in my mouth, but I can eventually book an Alaska cruise with the money I get back less the deposit on a different cruise line without having to add any additional funds.

We went to Alaska on NCL last August and it was magnificent! In fact, I like their spa even better.

Yes I feel terrible for you. This should just be an automatic switch. if I recall you sent an email, did you get a response? did you speak to a supervisor? I guess that would even be a longer hold.
Our first time on the Wonder was this past summer to Alaska. It is beautiful.
I believe dcl will be losing some loyal customers, this whole process is giving families a reason to try another cruise line. Sometimes, I wonder if they really understand or care about how much money/savings, planning/coordination goes into taking a family cruise.

American, Delta and United have extended their travel waivers. It looks like a trend is starting to allow a 15 month reschedule window over the standard 12 months. It makes sense to accommodate changes that way for many reasons.

Policies may change over the next week or so. It's good to have a back up plan but things may work out for your Plan A. Good luck!

My TA finally got ahold of them. Her mind was boggled as well when they said they wouldn’t do it!

I have a little less than 3 weeks before I move from lose my deposit to lose 50%...am going to wait it out until the last few days to see if any changes happen but then I will have to cancel before I move into the lose 50%. It’s crazy! I wish they would have just let me move to the 5/31 cruise, and I could just stop thinking about this!

Can anyone confirm if they were able to transfer their cruise funds to an already booked cruise for next year?

We're booked on a WBPC next Feb and I'd love to plunk it all down on that if I can't cruise now.
I really wanted to do our 3/28 sailing but I just can't take a chance on getting my dad sick; we already lost my mom last year.

Also because I work in a hospital, anyone traveling internationally has to be cleared through employee health services before returning to work. I realize for most of us it's mild and we'd survive it but many of my coworkers take care of elderly parents. I would feel terrible if something happened to a coworker's parents because I just HAD to go on a cruise right now.
It just feels too selfish.

I think that DCL’s new policy is decent in general but in your case (and the PP above) I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that they’re taking a hard stance on that 12 month rebooking window. If you only want an Alaska cruise you should be able to rebook that. If I were you I would probably make a bit of a fuss. You might not be able to get anywhere trying to talk to supervisors at this point because they’re probably overwhelmed but I would find an email for someone higher up and politely but firmly state your displeasure. I would also do the same thing on social media. It might not help your case but it’s worth a shot! I wouldn’t give up! Good luck!

Im surprised since they are allowing 15 months for Med cruises that they are treating all limited, non Caribbean cruises the same.

Where are you seeing this? Delta is still the standard 12 months from ticket issuance. Which is much more restrictive than Disney's 12 months from travel date, unless I am misunderstanding something.

i checked on this one and it’s NO. I have cruises booked and thought I could use my cruise credit to apply to other cruise. My TA said NO. It has to be a new cruise only and you can’t even use a placeholder even if the canceled cruise was booked with a placeholder. The restrictions are tough and they should’ve included all these hoops we would have to jump through. So I either find a Vgt to book that is affordable or I cancel one of my other cruises to free up the time to book.
