Am I premenopausal?

I was lucky. I had almost no symptoms in my 40s. I only missed 2 periods in my late 40s and when I was 50. At 51, it all stopped and at 52 I was done. I got a little warm once in a while but no sweating and the like that my GFs had.

No metallic tastes for me.

BTW my Dr. said the average age for menopause in the US is 51.

My sister and my GF both had babies over 40 this past year.

I'm hoping for some help please! The last few months my periods have been lighter and shorter which is not normally how they are. Then this past month, no period at all. I keep thinking it's coming, and then, nothing. I took 2 pregnancy tests and both were negative. I'm 40 1/2 and wondering wth is going on. I have an appt. with my GYN next week.

I would just wait & see what the real doctor says. Not the DIS docs. ;)
No way anyone here can answer such a question.

I've had the hot flashes for awhile and it was difficult to explain to the boyfriend. One day I was having sinus problems so he heated up water to steaming in a pan and had me do the "stick your face toward the steam with a towel over your head" thing. The immediate feel like my face is
sweating and hot is how that steam felt on my face under the towel.

That last sentence I wrote made no sense. The sensation I had with my head under the towel with steam is how my hot flashes feel.

I have an appt. tomorrow morning for bloodwork. I called their office and explained and they worked me in for tomorrow! It's going to be the longest two days of my life I think. Luckily, the pregnancy blood test comes back within a day or two so I should know before the weekend.

I'm still having the nausea and my period is still absent. My DH is thrilled at the thought of becoming a dad again. I'm ok with whatever happens, I love babies and 40 isn't too old. It's not like I have one foot in the grave, right?:lmao: So I'm remaining positive and will accept whatever will be! Thank you again everyone for your advice, it's really helped me.:)

Well...good luck! :yay:

I went for the blood work. The dr. I saw was not my usual one and she proceeded to (rudely) tell me to accept the fact that I was in perimenopause. If that weren't enough, she then lectured me, a 40 year old married woman, on the importance of safe contraceptives. It gets better, she further pushed the gardasil vaccine on me and said that basically, if I loved my DD's I'd give it to them too. Now, I had my DD10 with me today who was listening to every word. This dr. then starts lecturing me about teaching my kid's safe sex, safe fooling around, genital warts, etc. While my DD10 was in the room. I calmly told her that's enough and then she finally seemed to understand that I didnt' want my newly turned 10 year old to have the sex talk with her.;)

So, she's testing me for thyroid issues (which I have) and a pregnancy blood test as well. I started a light period today so I think it is most likely thyroid related or perimenopause.
