We are leaving on saturday, driving from TX to FL, and I have 4 suit cases for the 5 of us, we normally do 3 suitcases, this time we are doing a 3 Nigh cruise in between our stay, one of the suitcase is specifically for the cruise. I just cannot help myself, and the fact that we are driving in my brain I should bring it all, when in reality I should bring a lot less with me,ugh.

Am I the only one ?

It's not just you. I love the freedom of driving (or southwest's 2 free checked bags policy!) so I bring more than I probably should.

I don't think with your plan of the one suitcase just for the cruise you're doing badly at all!

Me too. Usually 1 large and 1 small suitcase just for me, and the carry on! I do make notes every year to refine my packing list.i am really short and would have difficulty buying replacement clothes if i had gotten something unexpectedly dirty. I also am allergic to most sunscreens and have bring the specific one I can use. Also, it makes bringing souvenirs hoe easier.

I'm driving down, just my girls and I, and I plan on bringing one carry on type of bag, and one large suitcase. But on top of that.... I'll have about 3-5 large bags (like the re-usable type you get at the grocery store, but a bit larger) filled with electronics, coloring books, crossword puzzels, food, etc for the drive. I'm even thinking of bringing my kids a blanket and pillows just so they have them for the drive. I say, if you drive down, one of the biggest perks is being able to bring as much as you can load on!

There are 5 of us, we bring 5 suitcases. There will be some room to spare in each of the suitcases.

I'm a big believer in overpacking. There's no reason to have what I'll want, as long as there's room for it.

In the summer heat and humidity, we'll want to change after our mid-afternoon swim. So our 8 day trip will translate to 15 or 16 outfits. So figure 4-5 pair of shorts with a whole lot of tops per person. If I have to do a load of laundry during the week I will, but I would much prefer to be at Stormalong Bay with a drink in my hand or at Epcot than in the laundry room at the Yacht Club.

Why not bring all you think you'll need to be comfortable?

Can one of the suitcases stack inside another?-- you may need the room on the cruise. For Christmas this year, we each got a rolling duffle bag- a BIG one-- that we're in the process of packing now. They fold to a height of about 3 or 4 inches, so I'll be able to stack one on top of the other under the bathroom sink, or put them into the closet.

We brought a suitcase and carry on for each of us AND I brought an extra duffel in my suitcase for anything we might bring back (and we used it!)
