Am I over packing?

I feel as though january is the hardest month to pack for! We go for our anniversary every year and we've experienced cold and hot! I'm thinking of packing four leggings and shorts (for the hot weather) and four jeans (for the cold weather). I'm also thinking of packing 4 sweaters, being from FL if it drops below 65 I will need these, and if it's that way the whole trip I'll need four of them! and of course I'll have to pack four shirts for the warm weather, ugh. It seems like so much for a four day trip, but I don't want to be freezing if the weather makes a change. We were here on the exact same dates two years ago, we walked out in sweaters and gloves in 50 degree weather, within the hour we were rushing back to the hotel because it hit over 80. Thank god I packed at least a few warm weather items that trip, can anyone help me decide what to do?

Well you could pack "HALF" of it and opt to wear things like Jeans and Sweaters on more than one day. It's not like you are running marathons (are you?). Of course you would want clean underwear and socks for each day. Even if you don't want to wear a pair of jeans for 2 days, many of the resorts have facilities for washing clothes.

We go in our camper so we have a fair amount of room for my DW to bring a separate outfit for each day PLUS alternate outfits if the weather is opposite of what we expect AND we still end up doing laundry. (Mostly mine because I refuse to bring 8 pair of pants/shorts.)

I agree that is a lot for 4 days. 2 jeans and 2 sweaters are enough. You will not be wearing them all day so that should be enough for you.

Pack half of the cold weather c!nothing. If its that cold there's no reason you can't wear them more than one day. If its really cold, layer up. And bring a windproof jacket.

I would definitely think about bringing some layer-able clothes to wear over cooler items-- like instead of bringing 4 sweaters, bring 2 overshirts (like a cardigan or a long drapey-type sweater) that could go over your tank, tee-shirt, or dress at night. I've gone in December for the past two years in a row and wore leggings (not jeans) for almost the entire time-- however I found that, compared to my sisters, what made me warm was that I wore comfortable boots (flats!) that came up my calf. They kept me super warm all day. I usually wore that with a pull-over style tunic or dress and had a couple long cardigan options for the evening. Maybe try packing mostly leggings with warm socks/boots as an option or flats as an option depending on how warm it is?

Thanks for the input everyone! Since I usually wear leggings in everyday weather and I am anticipating warm weather for the majority of the day, I think I will bring my four leggings and shorts(because sometimes it is just way too hot). I'll take your suggestions and go with only two jeans and two sweaters ( a long cardigan and a sweater).

Speaking as a chronic over-packer myself - yes, I think you're over-packing! As others have said, for a four-day trip, I'd bring a couple of pairs of leggings, one or two pairs of jeans, and two pairs of shorts. You should be able to wear each item a couple of times.

And I'd bring a couple of sweatshirts/cardigans, four short-sleeved t-shirts, and layer. Remember, you're not likely to get really hot and sweaty in January, so you can definitely wear your sweatshirts more than once.
