Am I outdated? Just got a quote for embroidery work...

It's for a 1" x 4" 2 color logo and she wants $50 to digitize and $10 per piece. I was , expecting it to be more in the $4-$5 range. Does anyone have any experience with custom embroidery and is it time for me to invest in a machine? (or should I consider ordering iron on patches for my zip hoodies???)

embroidered logos (as used in businesses) are usually $50-$75 to just set up the template, plus the actually embroidery.

the digitizing price I expected, but not the $10 per piece price...that seemed a bit out of range.
