Hi Folks,

I did the Marine Corps Turkey Trot 10k today down at the base in Quantico, VA. It was a pretty flat course. I finished in 1:33. Which puts me at about a 15 minute mile. I think I could have maintained that pace for at least 2-3 more miles. My splits were:
1) Forgot
2)15:33
3)15:12
4)15:01
5)15:48
6)14:36

I'm so worried bout being swept. :scared: Please be honest with me, how does this look as far as preparation goes? Am I where I should be or am I behind? I felt fine afterwards except for a bit of knee pain.

People keep saying how the adrenaline will push you faster and further at Disney. This was a race environment too, so can I expect much more adrenaline?

I've get another 10k December 14th.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Rebecca

I put your 10k into the pacing calculator at the McMillan Running site and according to the figures there, you will make it!

Keep working on your weekly paces to try to push the times up just a bit and do your XT to strengthen your muscles. Right now you are good, so this is just advice that you should continue to follow your program and you WILL do it!

You are above 16pace so you look good, just continue with your progression of adding miles. Just remember that at this race there are a WHOLE lot of people and the environment is very contagious!! Also the time that Disney uses to start the 16min pace is when the LAST person crosses the start line. So depending on how far ahead you are of that person you have a "cushion" a bit beyond the 16min pace. I finished my first Half at disney with a 15:05 pace and there were tons of people behind me!!!
Your fine, try not to worry too much, hang out with the WISHers and we all will make sure you get it done!

Your miles pace look fine to me.

One thing, please don't ever add more than 10% each week for total mileage, or increase your long run by more than 10% in any one week...thats an almost guaranteed injury.
