Am I Missing Something? (TouringPlans)

So I purchased the year subscription to touringplans.com (I looked at RideMax for a while, but found some good reviews here for TP and it was cheap for the year...guess you get you pay for lol). I was assuming what it did was allow you to put in what attractions you wanted to see and then arranged them for you based on wait times...but either I am completely missing something, or that doesn't appear to be the case XD When I added attractions on the "create your own", it just left them in the order I added them...

I'm a little confused as to what the point of this program is if all it does is let you create a list of rides...I could use Word for that lol :confused3

Has anyone used this before? I do hope I'm just missing something major, otherwise I need to contact them for my money back xD

Touring plans does not do what you are wanting it to. Ridemax is the right tool for that. Touring plans provides proven touring techniques but they are not customizable.

Good question.... I like the "Crowd Calendar" in concept - but not sure how on a scale of 10 - Disneyland can be a 7.8 on Monday, 4/11 while DCA is a 9.0 on the same day...

I think RM is much better than TP for creating itineraries. TP is much better at crowd levels and predicting wait times for rides.

I was able to get TP for half off (A little over $3) not that long ago so I went ahead and did that instead of paying for another subscription to ridemax. I have been to DLR enough times I feel comfortable taking the touring plans they have already made and tweaking them to fit our group.

If you don't want to use their set plans or are not comfortable tweaking them, you may want to just chalk it up to a lesson learned and purchase ridemax again.

Ah I see, thanks for the clarification everyone <3 I think I must have read info for RideMax and just assumed that TP was the same deal. Lesson learned indeed! :headache:

I did see their itineraries for Disneyland, so eh, maybe I'll just keep it to compare what I come up with myself.

I really liked the wait times tool that Touring Plans has. It's a great tool, because it really gives the "hows and whys" behind the Ridemax recommendations.

when you were doing your research, do you recall how much ridemax cost

thanks

Also a subscription to Touring Plans gives you access to the program, "Lines" which you access on your smartphone while in the park. It gives waiting times for attractions while you are in the park. It is handy to check when you are on one side of the park and want to see the line for an attraction on the other side. It also lists parades and entertainment times for things like Billy Hill, etc. It is still in beta mode I think (which is why it is cheap), so it isn't 100% accurate, but it does give a good picture.

While I really like Ridemax for creating a customizable plan and I use it, I wish it had a feature where I could download the plan to my phone. As it is, you can only print it out. Having it on my phone could mean I could change the itinerary on the fly while in the park. Ahhh...wishes! :lmao:

I have been told you can put the Ridemax plan on your phone, but I haven't tried to do so yet. There has to be a way. I'm assuming I will save the plan to a PDF then email it to myself and open it on my phone?

Also, there are several free apps for wait times.

Oh yes, I am sure you could save as PDF and then email. But what I really want is an interactive program on the phone that I could change as the day went on. So say Matterhorn goes down, I could re-arrange my schedule to fit it in later, etc. That would be awesome. :thumbsup2 But yes, I could email the plan to myself. It just seems weird in this day and age to have such an awkward work-around, kwim?

The Lines app is just an added benefit to subscribing to Touring Plans. Wouldn't buy the subscription just for Lines, but if I had the subscription would definitely check out the app that comes with it! :cool1:

I agree, it's too bad you can't use the Ridemax program while in the park!
