We have a trip scheduled in about 32 days. Of course, DH now has an audit scheduled at work on our second day of vacation. He CANNOT miss the audit. He has contacted the corporate office to see about rescheduling the audit, but we don't know what will happen there.
Soooooo, we are looking to shift our trip by two days. Obviously we need to change our flights (thank goodness for SW!), but we also need to shift our reservation. We want to wait until we find out about corporate changing the audit. If we wait, there is a chance that we'll be changing the reservation within 31 days of the check-in. I want to make sure I understand the rules so I am not surprised.
If we cancel the first two days of the reservation, those points go into holding. Holding points can only be booked within 60 days of travel and cannot be banked. Is that right? Is that it? If so, if we cancel the first two nights, we can use those points to reschedule two at the end and nothing really "happened". Obviously, if what we can book at the end costs fewer points, then we have an issue, but if it is the same cost, no problems.
Am I correct? Thanks for letting me know about anything I maybe haven't thought about. Sorry for the long explanation.
