Am I missing something? Buy a park Hopper, why???

I will say that we are in the minority on this thread and we do not park hop. We had hopper tickets and for numerous trips we thought we would hop, but we never did or only a few times and we found it not to our preference. Last summer for our first trip with the new tickets we opted to not add hopping and we never missed it in the least. However, like many have mentioned, we did add plusses and we loved having th option of water parks and DQ.

I don't park hop either. There have only been a few times I've hopped: when I had to meet some of my family at AK...I walked with them into AK, and then turned around and bussed over to MGM. There was also the time I wanted to get in the Hot Seat at WWTBAM:PI so I'd go to MGM in the mornings, play a few shows, then go to MK. But I think having to travel from park to park takes up too much valuable time.

so you can park hop!!!

YEs you can park hop but you need to have that option on your tickets. You dont have it you cant. But it is my understanding that if you dont have that option on your tickets you can add it for an addtional cost of course.

Hi!
I've alway park hopped, but I did it with older children. It was easy. This year I'm not park hopping. I will be taking my DD and 3 1/2 DGD and it might be more work than fun to park hop with her. We'll take a break in the afternoon and then go back to the same park later in the day. So, just do what's best for you and your family to keep it fun.

deany, there are frequent Disney buses. But if you are hopping between the MK and EPCOT, the monorail is the quicker way to go.

And if you're at EPCOT, you can hop to MGM by boat via the International Gateway in the World Showcase. You'd absolutely have to travel by bus to get to the AK, unless you have a rental car.

And even with a car, park hopping using Disney transportation can be quicker.

Park hopping is a good thing if you like to use morning EMH, because it allows you to get out of the parks after taking advantage of the extra time, but before the flood of resort guests plus everyone else makes the EMH park unmanageable.

I wondered if it would be worth the extra money on our trip last July, and I am so glad we added it!

We are not park hoppers. We pick a park, having made reservations for dinner in that park, and stay in that park all day. I think it wastes too much time going in between parks.

i'm with ya - i haven't done any 'hopping' since i was a CM (and got into the parks for free! :teeth: ), and don't plan to for the next two trips i have planned. since my vacations are usually short - 5 days or less - i don't feel its worth it to waste time going between parks. i also have no children, so i can easily get through a park a day. part of it too is that i am on a tight budget and the amount of money i save by not hopping outweighs the convenience of going to other parks. the only way i would purchase a park hopper right now is if perhaps i was only going for 2 days, then i might want to hit the MGM Studios in the morning before going to Epcot or MK.

It's all about options, baby! We don't hop a lot, but when we do we are so glad we have the option. Especially when it comes to dining and EMH.

It seems that many pro-hoppers like the ability to leave a park once the EMH is over and the regular guests start to flood in, choosing instead to go to a less crowded park...

Given the stats about "expected" crowd levels for certain times of the year do you feel it's more important to have the hopper in the option in the summer months vs. say, the fall?

What do you think? :confused3

This will be our first year not purchasing the park hopper option. Last year when we went we purchased it, but never used it. Even on the day we went to AK, we went to Downtown Disney and shopped. I'm a bit skeptical on not purchasing it, but since we wasted $100 last year I think it'll be fine this year. Good luck with your decision.

No, I think it's just as important to have the hopper option in September as it is in July.

See, in September, the parks are empty. Zip. Nada. Ghost town. In September you can ride all the rides, see all the shows, and do everything you want to do in a park, all much faster than you can in July, and all without rushing or hurrying.

So then what do you do?

You hop to another park, of course, and revisit some of your favorites. You might try the old "jump on the first bus that comes" game just for fun. You might decide while you're having lunch at Pecos Bills that you want to go to Le Cellier for dinner (cause in September it's a lot easier to get same-day ressies!) Or you might just decide that you need a good soaking because of the heat of the day, and head over to AK for Kali River Rapids.

The flexibility that park-hopping gives you is not just about the negative - "Oh, it's so crowded, we better go someplace else!", it's also about the positive - "Gee, right now I feel like a Dole Whip. Come on, lets leave after this ride and go to MK!"

That kind of spontineity is worth the extra $35 to me.

We are not getting hopper for our trip in Nov. I think one park a day is all we can handle. We are going to avoid EMH so hopefully wont have any big lines. I have one day left on an old park hopper pass (at least, I sure hope its left and working!), and plan to use it th e one day we will do AK, dinner at Kona then possibly go over to Spectro. Just dont think its worth the extra money - we didnt use it at all our last trip.

we hop everyday LOL I do not think we have not hopped a park in all of our trips. But we also do not go back to hotel for breaks, we just hop a park instead and do something else... like watch a show or something. We are known for getting around the parks in this family... so why hop ????

CUZ WE LOVEEEEEE TO!!!!!!
