We're staying in a 1-bedroom standard view at BWV in July for 10 nights. There are 4 of us...Dh, me, 2 children ages 3 and 5. Besides clothing and the basic essentials (toiletries, medications, lots of sunblock, cameras, etc.), here are the other things I plan to bring:

1. Laundry detergent (because we all have sensitive skin and prefer to use our own)
2. Basket-type coffee filters for 10-12 cup coffee maker
3. Dunkin Donuts coffee
4. Umbrella stroller for DS3 with raincover
5. Ponchos
6. Very detailed touring plans of course ;)
7. Some food for the room (mainly breakfast items, milk, sugar for coffee, etc.)
8. DVDs for the kids
9. Sleeping bags for the kids (they love them) and their own pillows (they prefer them)
10. Bottled water (we buy at BJs, by the case)

I want to make sure I don't overpack, but I also don't want to leave anything out. Anything missing that you would bring?

Just wanted you to know that the BW Community Hall (near the quiet pool) has DVDs that you can borrow for free (since you are a member staying at BWV). There's a pretty good selection of children's movies (Disney productions, of course). Good supplement to your kids' favorites. :) If you are looking for some resort downtime activities, check out CH - my then 16 month & 5 year old nephews really enjoyed that place

Thanks for the tips! We're definitely planning to go to CH with the kids. We have a couple of days that we are not going to the parks, and we figured we will enjoy the resort's activities and the pool. We figured it would make it a more relaxing vacation if we have a couple of more spontaneous days when we aren't on a real schedule except for dinner reservations.

I will keep in mind what you said about the DVDs...I actually forgot about that! We're still going to bring some though, since we are driving down from NYC...the DVD player keeps the kids busy and having fun!

I went to my local Dollar store and picked up Disney sand toys, bubbles and glow in the dark sticks for my little nephew who came with us.

We always bring a canvas shoe holder that hooks over the door. It is a great place to store all the small stuff that takes up counter space. Even at DVC the counter space is minimal (especially in the bathroom). Ours is canvas back with mesh front that lets you see what is in it (unlike the one in pic below)

Last trip we brought some disposable coffee cups with lids (like you would get at Starbucks). We could then bring our coffee with us on the bus and enjoy it on the way into the parks. We also used a clip-on stroller fan when the kids were little. That way they could nap in the stroller in relative comfort.

Check out your local Disney Store or Disney shopping online for sales on some fun items for the kids; when ours were younger I'd pick up in advance small Disney plush toys, t-shirts, etc. when on sale, and then on days such as when we'd be having dinner at Chef Mickey's, etc. I'd get back into our room ahead of rest of family and put item out on bed for each kid with note from respective character ( that I'd printed up at home ) saying that they were looking forward to meeting the kids at dinner that night, etc. - I'm sure you get the idea :goodvibes Disney items from dollar stores, etc. are great too as incentives for extra cooperation, patience waiting in line etc. And with little ones, as pp mentioned, glow sticks, and also light spinners, flash lights, etc. are fun at evening parades/fireworks.

:)

These are all great ideas!!! Thanks so much everyone!

I especially like the idea of disposable cups to bring coffee into the parks with us. DH and I actually LOVE iced coffee, and it would be great to have that with us. What we do at home....we have a pitcher that we use only for iced coffee. We brew a whole pot of coffee at a time, let it cool, then we put it in the pitcher and into the fridge (overnight minimum). We keep doing that every time we brew hot coffee until the pitcher is full, then continue as it needs to be refilled.

Do they include a pitcher for cold beverages in the villa? If not, I will bring mine from home. Then we can bring disposable cold cups with lids, and bring iced coffee into the parks...and have our coffee in the heat without having the coffee heat us up even more!

I do think there is a plastic pitcher in 1 bedroom & up villa kitchens; it is listed in 2009 planner so if you don't have one in your villa give mousekeeping a call and they can probably bring you one.

:goodvibes

My must haves are my Brita-type pitcher, caribiner clips (great for clipping hats to belt loops when little ones won't keep them on and bags if it is too late in your trip to have your purchases sent back to your resort), small tubes of sunscreen (we apply before dressing from our large spray can and carry a small travel size tube in our bags to retouch)and various sizes of ziplock bags.

Excellent!! One less thing to pack. That makes me happy! :)

I really love the idea of going to the local dollar store for little Disney things. Small items, easy to pack, and glow sticks are great for a nighttime parade (we will probably do one night at SpectroMagic, when we're not going to a park the next morning).

I had already bought lots of character clothing for the boys at the end of last summer when there was a big sale online for the Disney Store and Disney Outlet. I got them shirts and short sets with their favorite characters. When the weather here in NY reached the 70s recently, DS5 was very excited to be able to wear his new WALL-E t-shirt to school! I showed him all the rest of his new Disney clothes for our trip and he got all excited! And of course my little one likes to be just like his big brother so I showed him all of his new clothing too for what he calls "Disney's World"! All he says is that we're going to "Disney's World" in the summer and eating at Chef Mickey's! Sometimes he calls it "Chef Mickey's and Minnie's"! Too much fun!

I forgot to mention the ziplock bags. I pack various items in them (beauty products, anything that may spill). I also bring some with us, in the small size and the gallon size as well. I also bring some Clorox wipes in a ziplock bag for hotel rooms (on the drive down to FL and also at Disney). NO ONE can touch the remote or telephone before I sanitize them!! Those are the first things I wipe down, followed by door knobs, light switches, alarm clock, etc. You know, all the things that housekeeping (or Mousekeeping while at WDW) probably doesn't cover when they clean the room.

Small tubes for sunscreen are a good idea, but we still bring a diaper bag so the spray fits into that. So for now, we can bring that for reapplying at the parks. We also apply before we dress (about half hour before we leave the room)...actually we do this every day in the summer that we leave the house! So it's pretty routine for us and the boys anyway.

The canvas shoe holder that goes over the door is brilliant. I'm gonna do that!:thumbsup2

I would add scissors and an extension cord. Both came in very handy on our last trip. Scissors for clipping off tags and the like from newly purchased items. Extension cords for plugging in chargers. Also, we packed bandaids, hydrogen peroxide, and neosporin (to keep in the OL). I thought I might have been overpacking or over-thinking what to keep in the locker. However, those bandaids, hydrogen peroxide, and neosporin came in handy when I was trampled by a group of cheerleaders and skinned my knee pretty badly. I won't second guess myself again...:lmao:

We keep all of those things in the diaper bag, with us at all times! Came in handy in Lancaster, PA last summer when my older son fell and skinned his knee when we were walking from the car to the pretzel factory. He was all fixed and feeling better in a minute or 2! I also keep hand wipes...a MUST for my kids and us to use after rides and before eating!! (LOL, not after every single ride, but after riding a bunch of them, before we grab a bite to eat!!).

bring Ziploc type containers and then buy some fresh fruit from a grocery store in Fla, i.e. watermellon, grapes.. and make up some fresh fruit salad to eat as snacks in the room the rest of the week. Fresh fruit always seems better on a hot Fla day. The fruit cups always look like a good idea in the park, but $3 for a little cup of grapes never seems worth it...
And if your kids like it, those crystal-light type bottled water drink flavoring sleeves.
