Am I middle class or lower class?

Because my daughter receives a small amount of SSI Disability, she has Medicaid as her secondary insurance and I do not consider us lower class. We are middle class.

And those of us who are educated or informed know that you and your family have paid into a fund thru employment that provides for SSI and Medicaid, it's not a give away program.

All I know is I am VERY thankful that we have such programs. My daughter was born with VATER association which is an acronym for multiple birth defects. Hers are her rib/vertabrae and spine (had tethered spinal cord surgery a couple of years ago), her heart (she had surgery this summer, Amplatzer), her bowels (she had reconstructive surgery two weeks before the heart surgery and they also found Hirschsprung's Disease), multicystic kidney/one good kidney, she has a g-tube, Reactive Airway Disease, and she did have hypoparathyroidism and acid reflux that resolved themselves. She is doing fantastic thanks to the excellent medical care she has received. She has even started 4k this year and is very popular, the smartest one in class and had her first friend bday party at Chuck E Cheese (in the past she was always sick or in the hospital, so it was only family)! Her Pedisure (she gets a six cans a day, one can every three hours through her tube) would run about $350 a month and her tubing and other supplies would run over $250. I think the co-pay for the reconstructive bowel surgery and heart surgery would have been $40,000 to $60,000! Again, I am so thankful to live in a country with the medical advances we have and the programs such as disability and Medicaid. :worship:

Well, she certainly sounds like a real trooper and I'll go ahead and
add she's very fortunate to have a family that cares for her. :thumbsup2
