Am I making the wrong choice?

I can't respond to the Tree House situation, but I can address thr ECV issue. My DH has PAD and has had bypass surgery for both legs to address the blood flow issues. He has very good blood flow in both legs now, but if he walks for long distances he gets a stinging sensation in one or both legs and becomes very uncomfortable. Plus his legs tend to swell up as he pushes himself with the walking. We convinced him to rent an ECV (he was adamant that he did not need it) about 2 trips ago, and he was so amazed at how pleasant the trip was. No stinging, not leg cramps, no swelling. He would park it at the rides (there is a designated parking area for them) and walk through the ride areas. We also appreciated the basket for storing our things! We just rent them at the parks and he walks to the bus and around the resort. Makes life a lot easier!!

For me, using a ECV was something that I would have not considered. I have a blood disorder that comes and goes depending on my treatment cycle and other factors. After being at WDW and not feeling well for most of the vacation, I realized that the DW and DD where having a not so magical time because I couldn't keep up.

Our next trip I put my pride aside and rented a ECV from off site. Several vacations and ECV rentals latter, I ended up buying a ECV to use at WDW.

DW is happy, DD is happy, and I am happy that I use a ECV while at WDW. :thumbsup2

Do you mind if I ask where you bought it from, how much did it cost, and where to you store it when you're not at Disney,

Thanks

I bought a Pride Revo, best price was on the internet. I take it on SWA and keep it at home. Sometimes I need to use it and sometimes I don't. Better to be safe than sorry.

So happy to see this thread! And I need some direction.

I booked a THV 11 months out for this coming weekend, Labor Day for 3 nights. DH goes and breaks his foot 2 weeks ago. At least he is not in a cast but he is in a boot and cannot put any pressure on his foot at all. I rented him an ECV from www.applescooter.com after reading reviews here on the DIS. They will deliver and pick it up and say we can take it apart - we'll have our own transportation. They say we can take the ECV apart and assemble it easily to transport in our SUV. Has anyone ever done this? I am just trying to think of the logistics in my head before we get there! And wondering if I am going to be able to do this on my own?

As for DH, he is going to have to hop up and down the stairs, because I am NOT giving up my Treehouse!

We stayed at the treehouses last year in August. I rented an ECV but did not get a handicap accessible treehouse. I did request a treehouse near the walking path to the rest of the Saratoga resort. Our treehouse was one of 2 that were the closest to the walkway to the main resort area. We never used the internal treehouse buses, we always just walked over to a regular bus stop. I forget which one it was, but it worked out great for us because it was the first stop for the buses coming in to the resort so with me on my scooter I had a better chance of not having an already full bus pull up.

We were a brief walk to the treehouse pool. It is nothing spectacular, just a plain ol' non-themed rectangular pool and a hot tub. But it was also very un-used. I had 4 teen-age boys and they could go there and horse around without disturbing anybody or watching out for little ones. Hubby walked up every night and sat in the hot tub for awhile. It was almost like our own private pool. A few times other people would come as we were leaving, or would be leaving when we would get there. But I think only once were we there for any length of time with any other families.

As for my ECV - I took a lawn mower tarp cover and an outdoor extension cord and parked it under the treehouse and charged it down there each night and would cover it. It was well protected under there and probably didn't really need the cover but the cover I got was a dark green, so it also helped it to camoflauge it a little. of course I had the key with my so it wouldn't have done anybody any good to try to take it, but still.....

We enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse, did not experience any mosquitos or other bugs or critters.
