Am I looking for the impossible?

Am planning a last minute trip to WDW (June 13-21). I can crash with my sister at ASMo but I really don't want to. If I could find accommodations to fit my specs and price I would rather do that!
I've never done offsite at WDW so I have no ideas what my options are. I would be thrilled with a place like Bonnet Creek or even the Downtown Disney area hotels. What I want is something that even if it's "offsite" is still very close...I will be there 8 nights and have this pipe dream wish of finding this for $500. I love the condo idea but don't "have to" have the full kitchens and such...a fridge would be a priority though and a microwave great bonus.

Can anyone recommend any places that might fit this or am I nuts?
Cheapest I can find Bonnet Creek for the week is nearly $900 and I priced the Downtown Disney places and just over $800 for the week was the lowest I could find. I just don't know where else to look since I'm not sure how close other offsite places really are.

$500 for more than a week in a condo in June is going to be tough. You could send a general inquiry to one of the "bulk" listing sites (like windsorhillsrent.com) and hope someone had a last-minute cancelation, but at that price, I think you might have to resign yourself to one of the lesser hotels in the area.

So you are looking at spending around $65 a night with tax. There are motels out there that will be that cheap but you will probably have to rent a car to get onsite.

What do you consider a "lesser hotel?" I see so many people posting here how they stay in condos so cheap so I'm wondering where they got all those great deals!

I am driving down, so a car is not an issue. I plan to use my car even if we stay at ASMo because of the bus situation.

Mostly, they got them by going in the offseason. June isn't exactly the offseason.

This is what I would do... go to Hotwire.com and check out the options. This are the first ones it displays for your dates. The "thing" with Hotwire is that you wouldn't be able to know the name of the hotel until you book, and you wouldn't be able to cancel by any means.

You can go to www.betterbidding.com and give the options that Hotwire gave you and they will give their guess of the hotel. For instance, the 3.5 star hotel most certainly would be Regal Sun, that has been offered in Hotwire for prices sometimes around 47 USD in the past.

Check out this thread: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=72700&

However, if you are going to be renting a car in Hotwire you can go to "packages" and they do give you a hotel name right there. It gives me a price of 796 for the Regal Sun all fees and taxes includes (remember, includes an economy car).

I think the 4-star might be Buena Vista Palace. Including car, it is available for 956 USD everything included.

Hotwire offers rooms for up to 4. If there are more in your party, it might not work for you. Also remember that there are some risks involved.

I have been looking for June 11-18, and send a message through Windsor Palms and have recieved at least 10-15 quotes for 3 BR condos, some of them as low as $400 or so for the week. It might be worth asking for quotes!

Ooh where do I contact them? Just contact the resort directly? Are they pretty close to WDW property?

Tirapapas, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to book through hotwire! I don't like not knowing what hotel I get until after it's too late to change. :scared1:

You can get a 2 bedroom at Tuscana for about $615 total including tax.
Very nice resort.

That sounds great! I can't figure out that site though...when I go to book it, it basically takes me round and round in circles. :confused3

After clicking on the link, on the left hand side of the page put it your correct travel dates, # of people, etc. then click search. It will bring up the hotels. Then click on book it for the room type you want. It will bring you to another page. Then you have the option of adding a car rental, tickets, etc. If you do then add what is needed then click on continue on the bottom of the page, ff you do not need to add anything, on the left hand side of the page has a continue button. The next page will request your personal info. Then click on book it and you should be set. After I had posted the link, I saw other places on that page that may inteest you. Just scroll down the page from the link.

You might want to give Hotwire more than a passing thought. There are great deals to be had and the risk is not huge if you educate yourself on Better bidding. The deals are incredible. Of course, if you're not absolutely sure you are going then there are no cancellations, so it wouldn't work. It took me a while to try Priceline and Hotwire, but once I did---- I was hooked!

Hotwire will use name brand hotels and I haven't been disappointed using them yet, so I think you should at least consider giving them a try. They give great discounts and will help your wallet in the long run. :)

Gotta have an in-room fridge? Then Hotwire probably won't be a good match for you.

I agree with Brian Noble and others who have suggested condos as an option. They tend to be a little further out from your preferred Bonnet Creek to Downtown Disney area but have all the features you'd expect of living in a house.

I'd suggest doing a google search on disney condo rentals or disney vacation homes to find the many listings for rental properties. As previously suggested you can always contact owners/property managers to determine whether they'd give you a last minute price that's lower than the posted price for a property. In today's economy many may be willing to do that.

Good luck!

I went to ebay and searched both title and body using "orlando condo rentals June" and got a number of rentals during your time. Here is one of the auctions, just click on the link. This is a one bedroom for 599.00 and there is also a 2 br for 699.00 The seller has sold over 600 items with 100% feedback.

I have never stayed here but I have read about it on this site. There is also one for Star Island which is a great place. I have stayed there.
Hope this helps,

I just booked a "family room" at the Galleria Palms Orlando for $59/night...comes to $66 for the night with taxes, etc. We are staying there on June 14th and then will be at AKL for 7 nights. You might want to check it out...it got good review on trip advisor and I just posted a thread today and got two replys giving it a thumbs up. Not sure if it has a fridge option or not?

Try vacationcentralflorida.com. They have a couple of 3br condos in Windsor Hills available for $411.32 total with tax. The only problem is that they only rent from Saturday to Saturday, so you will have to find accommodations for your final night. Seems like a really great deal. You can watch a video tour of the condo on their site. When you are on the homepage, click on the link for the special deals right under the picture of the pool. Good luck. :thumbsup2

I was going to suggest vacation central florida as well. We're booked with them in sept ans for a 3 bdrm it's $525 for 7 days. I know they might have some last minute openings/deals.
