Am I going to want another lens?

So we are headed to the World in August. I have a Canon XSi and just recently purchased the Tamron 28-75 lens to bring along. Now I'm searching for a bag. I have it narrowed down to 2 choices. One will only allow for the camera and the Tamron lens. My other choice will allow for another lens. I can't decide if I will want another lens. My other lens choices are... 50mm, 75-300, or the 18-55 kit lens. What do you think, will the Tamron cover my needs? Thanks in advance.

I would bring them all, but not bring all to every park. I usually only use a long focal length lens at AK, so that could stay in the safe in the room for most days. The 28-70mm will satisfy "most" situations, but there will be times where it is not wide enough and you will want the 18mm. For any dark ride or Spectro pics, you will want the 50mm.

28 is not very wide on a Xsi, the 18-55 would be good for when you just can't back up. The kit lens (or the 50) is so small and light that it should be able to be squeezed in the bag with the camera, or at least carried in a small pouch on the strap.

I like a long lens for character close-ups and for that long lens look but I use it less than any of the other lenses. On days when I don't want to carry too much I decide in advance what kind of photos I want and just accept that I won't be taking wide angle/long lens/low light or whatever it is that I didn't carry that day.

I can usually deal better with a lack of lenses than I can with a heavy load for a full day. Of course there is always the "stash the long lens in the locker and retrieve the low light lens at night" plan! ;)

I have the XSi and my three lens (18-55IS, 55-250IS and 50 1.8) cover most situations. I would think a Tamron 2.8 zoom would do that except the longer telephoto, - but don't get the 75-300, that's one of the worst rated Canon lens.

I would bring the 50mm; whichever version you have, it's small and light. You could even just stick it in a pocket.

28mm is a little narrow for some situations but you will probably do fine. I have done a DL and a WDW trip where the Tamron 28-75mm was my narrowest lens (discounting my fisheye) and the only times it was really an issue is photos of groups up close - the best example being at character meals. I would have to lean way back and even then usually cut off a lot of the character.

The 50mm will help if you want to take photos in really dark places or get more DoF than the F2.8 can give you. I find many of the shops and such to be somewhat dim so even F2.8 can sometimes struggle there.

You ask, "Am I going to want another lens?". The answer to that question, under any situation, is always "yes"!

Isn't that the truth! ;) Asking this group "do I need more photo equipment?" will only have one answer.

I think that Tamron will get you by in most situations. Eventually you will want something wider and something longer but the one you have should be very useful at Disney. And YES! You will always want more!

I keep reading the title of this thread. As a photographer, I cannot image NOT wanting another lens
