Am I going to ruin the trip?

Your kids will have wonderful memories of you just being there. My mother has fibromyalgia and has vacationed with us at Hawaii, Disneyland and Disneyworld. Yes, sometimes she's slower than us or has to go back to the hotel and rest or meet up with us in the park because she can't get out of bed in the morning. But of all the memories my son has, he never talks about her leaving early or not being there. In fact some of his fav memories are ordering room service and eating "fancy" with grandma in her room. He thinks it something special that they do.

Have a wonderful trip and enjoy every minute of it!

Hi

I have benn a lurker on the boards for a while and usually just prefer to read everyone posts rather than get involved myself but this thread struck a note with me, to the point were I feel I have to reply.

I can honestly and truly tell you that from personal experience I know what it is like to not only be with someone who is ill at Disney but I also know without a shadow of a doubt that your girls would rather have you there doing what you can at your own speed than not having you there to share all your wonderful experiences.

I felt I needed to reply as I too visited WDW as a child with a mum who was sick but I cherished every moment I had and was just glad to be at Disney with the whole family. I lost my mum to bowel cancer 3 1/2 yrs ago when I was 16 and one of her final requests was that my dad take us back to Disney where we had not been in 6 yrs due to her illness. I can truly say if i had the choice i would take time with my mum even just sitting at home over going to Disney without her.

I'm afraid i've rambled on here a bit but my point was that I believe you should definately go to Disney and do what you can and i'm positive your girls will have a great time no matter what.

of course you won't "ruin" the trip!!! you being there will MAKE the trip! what a great mom. you go and have fun with your family!!! you ALL deserve it!:grouphug:

You're not going to ruin anything. We play the hand we're dealt.

Have fun!

No matter how your health is, you kids will always treasure this vacation.

Nothing better than being in Disney with your family. Just think of the memories that will be made and the happy faces you will witness.

The parks aren't about running around trying to get on every attraction. There is a magic there.

Make some magic, enjoy your trip and don't stress out.

Thank you all for your kind words and support. I did talk to my oldest dd and she said she didn't care how much time I spent in the hotel room just that I was there at the end of the day for her to tell me about her day. I can't tell you all how much better you all made me feel

YAY!!!!!!! It's going to be so much fun and such great memories for you and your family!! :grouphug:

Thank you for your kind words. I have to say that when someone is taken away from you in such a way its never easy, but I feel like I would rather have her in peace looking down on me than in the amount of pain she was in which helps me through the tough times.

It probably seems to others that I have had a lot of bad luck and tragedy in my life ( I also lost my aunt, who was my mum's sister 5 weeks before we lost my mum ) but at the end of the day I only had her for sixteen years but she was the strongest bravest person I know and still gives me strength every day.

Sorry i appear to have rambled on again well make sure that you have a great time in disney.:goodvibes

l wholeheartedly agree with the pp's-go and have a blast!! Some of the best moments I've ever had on trips with my family haven't been when we're rushing from one place to another. They've been when we're sitting at dinner, chilling out watching fireworks, or just being in the moment. I would definitely budget some time for rest, but who doesn't? ;)

In all seriousness, it sounds like you and your family really need this vacation. And you would be doing yourself and your family a "disservice" (for lack of a better word) by NOT going. Go, have an amazing time, and keep your pace as comfortable as possible. You'll never see everything Disney has to offer, even in a million trips!

You and your family will have an amazing time!! Enjoy your trip!!! :cool1:
