am i going to regret not hiring a VIDEOGRAPHER?

We had planned on just doing pictures for both our ceremony and reception, but about a month before our wedding we decided to add on ceremony-only videography and we are SO happy that we did (our ceremony was at the wedding pavilion). Disney did a great job and the video is truly magical :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes We personally didn't want a camera man running around with a video camera during our ceremony, so that's why we went with Disney (mounted cameras). As far as the reception goes, I don't regret not hiring a videographer. It was a very intimate thing and I think a videographer would have been distracting to us.

I don't regret it. His parents filmed it and I still haven't watched that.

we hired videographers to take raw footage for us, since we do our own video editing and wanted to save a little $$...

now of course, here it is, almost 8 months later and I still haven't watched the footage! it's because we don't have a miniDV camera...we have to borrow one to import the footage...

anyway, we splurged on photography and weren't even going to get a videographer, but everyone said that we HAD to get one or we would regret it. just getting the raw footage was a happy medium...

good luck!

We weren't going to hire a videographer. I thought the photographers pictures from getting ready till the end of the reception would be enough. Then my brother and sis-in-law, who were in the wedding party, had her sister, fiance and dad who came to our wedding from Washington D.C. start taping before the ceremony at the hotel where all the guests where and right before the ceremony until the reception was over. We were married March 6, 2004 in DW and just watched it again last Friday! I actually thanked them tonight again as it came up in conversation. I got to see footage of stuff I wouldn't have ever seen because I was at the wedding resort. I also love hearing how our Reverand made our ceremony non-traditional. Our vows were different than usual, but perfect! We here something new everytime we watch it. It did last almost 30 mins., but he did a great job!!! Anyways I am so happy they taped it for me without asking. If you know someone to trust taping it, I'd just ask them. Videographers can be very expensive.

and dreams91 you look beautiful ! who took the lovely picture of you and your betrothed on the carousel? was that a disney photographer? also who did your hair and makeup??!!!

I wish I had done it. There was so much I just can't remember or would like to go over again and I can't. It would be lovely to look back.

We were not going to bother hiring a videographer the main reasons being an extra expense and the other i wanted something intimate and the thought of someone running after me with a camera did nothing for me. I soon changed my mind - i am only planning to get married once and being from the UK not all our family could make it and i thought it would be nice to show some footage of the wedding at our reception back in th UK. I opted for a magic moment (www.amagicmoment.com) they do an intimate package for 1 2/2 hours including a musical opening with name & title, minor editing of entire event and a romantic musical collage ending for $350; which i think is a bargin! Also they will have it ready for you within 5 working days

Just my 2 cents...

We did not have a videographer mostly because our package was the "off the rack" intimate and I really didn't have the money for that...

I do sorta wish we had the whole thing on video...we remember a lot, and the pictures are wonderful (and help us remember)...but I'm sure as years go by (instead of just months) we'll forget things...little things and it would be nice to have a video.

We did not regret not hiring videographer. We feel the same way afterwards.
The way our photographer (Chapman) took photos was very journalistic, everything happened during the ceremony was covered in every angle by him.

I’m going to be totally honest with you—I would totally regret it if I did not have my wedding video. There are so many things that you won’t see during your wedding and reception, and they are captured on video. Photographs are wonderful, and we of course wanted those as well, but our video adds so much “life” to the memories. I have watched the video so many times in the 2 years I’ve been married. Of course, not everyone watches their video, but I truly do. It is a wonderful way to hold on to the memories and to see all the things you missed during the day itself. Just my two cents. :)

We didn't hire a videographer. It was mostly a budget decision, and I don't regret it at all. In the first few weeks following the wedding, I thought that it was possibly a mistake to not get one. But here it is almost 2 years later, and we still haven't watched any of the video footage two of our guests sent us. For us, spending the money on a photographer and having a picture to hang on a wall was much more important.

I'm a hopeless romantic and love watching weddings... since we are paying for our own, we decided we couldn't afford a videographer... at least up until about a month ago... I really started thinking about it and I want a video... I'm the type of sappy girl who wants to watch it over and over again to relive the moment, to see the things I KNOW I'm going to miss that day because I'll be so overwhelmed. For me, it IS a necessity. But if you're one of those people who don't watch movies or home videos very much, then maybe you shouldn't pay for it... if you have someone, a friend or family member, willing to video it for you, go with it... whatever you do, you'll have photos to remember it by forever!! Enjoy your day!!! :goodvibes

We hired one and for us it is a great decision. Due to our budget, there were so many people that couldn't come, or didn't get invited. This way, I can send them my copy to view. I really want to give a copy to my grandmother so that she can show all of her friends. For me it was really important to be able to show everyone!

I don't think you will regret it. A friend of mine took the video. We have the ceremony on video, and a few things from the reception. It is nice to have, but I don't think it would have been worth the money. Since it seems you have already made similar arrangements, I don't think it is too important to you either. The still pictures honestly catch so much more.

Just one more thought as to why I am doing the video. I am doing the video b/c of how sick Leif's dad is and my grandmother who is 87. I guess I want to be able to remember them and hear them on our wedding day. To show our children as well...hope that helps.

10 years later we don't regret our Video one bit.

With our June WDW VR coming up we pulled it out the other day and watched it.

We laughed, cried and couldn't believe our hair and the poofy sleeves on my dress.

Neatest part is that our son can see how his mom and dad started out their lives together. He loves watching it.

And of course we are having a videographer for our VR.

I too added on videography last minute and am SO glad! I definitely think it is the best decision that I made...besides the guy of course;-)

personally i would of regretted not having a video.

i love that we have our wedding memories on video, the music, greg & i saying our vows, my dads toast, our families voices & well wishes, to me our video is priceless. we used stan of stvs wedding videos who did a great job. you can also look into some cheaper alternatives like a cut above she had nice packages for about $1000.
