Am I going to get a "bad" room by arriving at 5?

I know this sounds silly but I will tell you why I worry. We went to Disney in 03 and had booked the Poly concierge. We got there late, about 8 probably, and we were told there were no more concierge rooms available. We were told we could stay in one place but "use" the lounge. I turned the offer down as i felt we should be staying there. I had never been before and had no idea how it worked. I did get a credit back of 700 but still thought it was tacky to say the least. We then got to the room with an asthmatic child and it was a smoking room. Our air then broke and they left all this ashy looking mess on the ground. We did not allow it to ruin our trip and still had a blast but you can see why I am a little worried. We are checking in to the WL on Sun the 4th of November. Should I prepare for the worst because of the time??

I'm wondering this too. We'll be checking in to the WL sometime after 8pm. I'm not too picky, but I really don't want a ground floor room. However, I hate to be a bother and don't really want to put in a special request.

We haven't requested rooms. We've arrived at different times. Most on the boards say room assignments are generally made a few days before arrival.

The only thing we mention is we'd like something peaceful, quiet.

....Good luck to your Wolverines this weekend!

Thanks lilyv...God, do we need the luck.

I hope thats not the case, cause our flight doesn't get into Orlando until 5:00. I'm not too picky about room location, but I would like to avoid the parking lot view! Anything else would be o.k.

I think it makes a difference. Rooms are given out as guests arrive during the day, many asking for the same requests as you.

I am going to be arriving late which is a switch from my normal noon time arrival and I'm concerned about it as well.

Not sure if this is "correct" advice...but it is what I am going to do/did.

1. I called and made sure all of my "requests" were on the reservation as well as LATE ARRIVAL.

2. I believe that the room assignments are done before you check in (maybe even one or two days) by the person who assigns the rooms. I have heard that it doesn't help to call them/fax them, etc. BUT I am going to call ahead and see if we have been assigned a room before I leave. They may not give me the room number, but they may give me a location. If I like it....I am going to ask politely that a note be put on the reservation...."do not break" meaning keep the room assignment as it is. If I don't like it...I will politely ask how to get it changed.

Not sure how this will work....but it is what I am going to do.

I used to work for Disney Reservations, and I had friends in most of the hotels. From what I have always understood, rooms are assigned the night before. As guests check-in they make adjustments as needed based on guest requests. I have checked in later in the evening and been upgraded due to the fact that they had no other rooms left. Good luck to you. I too will be checking in for my trip after 7pm so I am hoping I can still get what I want.

Ok, I get that room assignments are made in advance, but how do you account for the OP reserving a CL room and then arriving to find that there were none left. Somebody got their room that was for them. Did someone get a free upgrade? If that was the case, Disney was at fault, the OP had the room reserved and Disney should have held it for them. So, if that is the case then all rooms are up for grabs? That makes me glad that I check in at 12:00 noon.

The person who had a concerge level room booked should have been given an upgrade if what they booked was not available

We had booked a nonsmoking king room thru AAA at Coronado springs. We arrived around 7:30 - all that was left was a smoking king room. They upgraded us - I also had just taken my last antibiotic that morning for a sinus infection...we were placed in a standard suite

so it can work to your favor as well

That is my concern. I have a courtyard view room at WL this time and I am terrified it will happen again. I will not be as patient this time. I did not fully understand last time. The big golf tournament was going on and that is what the CM gave me as an excuse..........they had all the rooms. Huh? I paid for mine too! Our flight was getting in at noon and now it is at 5 and with ME I am not sure what time that puts me getting there. So, I hope everything goes well.:headache:

Yes, I;m one of those OBNOXIOUS Appalachian State Univeristy Alumni! WHOO-HOO! We beat Michigan! And now, I promise, to stop.......

I follow quite a few teams in college football. Appalachian State has every reason to be proud. Tough loss for Michigan, but your team really was awesome. I asked my 20 something son if he'd watched the Appalachian State Michigan game, and he said no, he would just wait for the Disney Movie about the team/game when it comes out. (No insider knowledge, just son's sense of humor....although I'd bet there will likely be a movie!)

My team...Wyoming! Go Pokes!

We are coming from California and our flight leaves here at 7am and we still don't get to Orlando until 9pm. Add in getting the rental car and drive time and we won't get to the hotel til 11pm. Surely they must have a lot of late arrivals because of the West Coast crowd?

Luckily we are staying at the Nick Hotel for 2 days before our combo stay at Contemporary/BCV. This thread has been excellent -- I will be sure to call a few days before. Wait a minute. No, I won't. We booked the cheapest rooms available. Maybe we'll get lucky and get an upgrade. No wait, we will be checking into Contemp and BCV in the middle of the day. Never mind!!!
