Am I getting the flu?

Hi!

Merry Christmas!

I woke up yesterday with a very sore throat and a cough. Went to work. Through the day, I drank lots of water, cause that usually makes me feel better. Anyway, sore throat never goes away, couch gets worse. Achiness sets in. And, I start to feel hot and cold, but I attribute that to the fluctuating AC in different departments.

Get home, take my temp. It's 100.4. Throughout the night, it fluctuates between 100.1 to 100.8.

Do you think it might be the flu?

I do feel much better this morning, though. Temp is back down to good ol' 98.6, throat is feeling a little better, though it is still sore. I hope it is over, whatever it is.

If your temperature is 102 or above, you could have the flu. Colds and other viral infections start out with the same symptoms that you describe.

Sounds more like a cold or other like virus to me as well. No matter what, I do hope you are feeling better soon

I hope you're feeling better. It doesn't sound like the flu it's more likely a cold or even a sinus infection. I've had them where it starts as a sore throat and then turns into a really bad headache. The flu hits you like a mack truck. You can go from feeling fine to horrible in less than an hour.

There are some "flu like" viruses going around. If you are feeling better that quick, chances are it wasn't the flu.

A few weekends back I had a bad headache, low grade fever, slight cough and joint pain. The next day, it was completely resolved!

DH started with those symptoms Sun night and was throwing up by the wee hours of Tues morning. I started with the same symptoms Monday night and (knock on wood) haven't thrown up yet. I'm on the upswing, however poor DH (who's stopped throwing up thank goodness) now has a full blown head cold and is sneezing to beat the band We're both, uh, rather gassy and he's had diareah (sp?). My stomach just hurts. Merry Christmas, right?

Pluto sounds like hubby and I have the same thing you do. Monday night it hit us within an hour of feeling just fine....cough came on, then sore throat, no achiness yet..but fever has fluctuated from 99.8 to 101.0...... extremely gassy. Hope you feel better soon!

Ugh..I'm still sick today...temp has gotten up to 101.7. I feel miserable. I've been taking Dayquil, which does help for a little while, but then it's back to the shivers and aches.


I'll go to the dr tomorrow if it is still around...hope not.

wdwpluto my family is the same as you . I started early sunday morning and am still queasy. Connor started Monday (plus he has the cold), Victoria started yesterday and my husband today. I scrapped christmas dinner and we have been in our pj's all day.

Hope everyone feels better. I wonder how long my stomach is going to hurt?

That was my DH last night. We went to my parents' house for our big Christmas Eve and my youngest sister's birthday celebrations around 2:00. I went with a man who felt great all day and even went out to lunch with one of his friends. By 4:00, he was coughing and had a fever of 102. He went home without eating and was up most of the night throwing up. Once, he even woke our DS up because he can be very loud when he's being sick. (sorry for that picture) He's been lying around all day between the couch and our bed.

The only benefit to him being sick on Christmas is that we didn't have to go to his mother's house today. We'll see her tomorrow or Saturday... at our house where we are comfortable and their is an air of happiness with no signs of gloom and doom... but I digress.

I hope you're feeling even better now. It really stinks being sick during the holidays.

I have the same symptons as you described. I have a temp of 101.4. DS is also sick he has a temp of 102.8. We called the Dr. and he prescribed a medication. Dr. said it sounds like the flu.

Well, its the 26th...

My fever is gone!

But I am extremely congested...still coughing a little bit as well...but I feel a whole lot better. Able to function, at least!
