Am I fantasizing Blue Bayou too much?

I have always been a fan of blue bayou, mainly because of the ambiance. Food has been ok to good, never great, but it was useful for fantasmic as well.

however, last time we went in December 2021, we had a bad experience. We were a party of 8. 4 of us ordered the prime rib, which apparently was a special menu item for the holidays.

all 4 of the prime ribs were extremely fatty. 2 of them were so bad, it was barely eatable. I got lucky in that mine was the least fatty of the bunch.
the server apologized, and gave us credit for 2 of the entrees, but it left two of our party quite hungry.

my son had a child’s steak, and it looked better than any of ours, at least it didn’t have fat.

and yes, I know prime rib is supposed to be fatty, but this was twice to three times as much fat as we were used too.

it was the first time 6 of us have been there, and obviously those 6 would not want to go again.

My absolute biggest food pet peeve is when your meal is a major letdown. It just puts me in such a bad mood and ruins the entire experience. I totally get where you are coming from. Especially with it being prime rib that is $$$$.

I would go at least once. It's so unique. We've been a few times and will go again on our next trip. While the food wasn't anything to write home about, it wasn't bad. It seems like food quality can really vary from visit to visit. For the money you pay, it would be nice if the food was consistently great.
I like the idea of just getting dessert. I usually get the chicken or the Monte Cristo. Is there anything your kids would like on the kid menu?

Once I went on my birthday and they gave me a chocolate mousse with a candle in it :)

I agree with asking for a water table. One time we were in the back, and even though the night time patio ambience is cool, without the water table and seeing Pirates I could have been anywhere.

I don't think you'll regret it if you go.

I've always had good food there, and the atmosphere can't be beat. I would do it for sure. I always make sure to get a water table.

We love it so, so much! It's pretty much a must do for us if I can get a reservation. When our girls were younger, so maybe around 2008 or so, the kids meals came with fun pirate hats, and some "treasure" I seem to recall. Super cute for photos. The meals are super pricey now for sure, but we still try to eat there if we can because we miss it when we don't. I didn't know you could just order dessert - if you can, then that is a great compromise!

Does anyone know if the tables by the water will accommodate 5 people? We will have 3 adults and 2 kids (7 and 12). It will be the first visit for the kids and we would really like to get the best experience (by the water).
Somewhere I had read that the waterside tables will only do 4 people.

We've consistently done water side with 5 people.
