Am I doing the right thing by waiting?

I talked my family into tacking 3 days at disney on to the end of our Thanksgiving week cruise. We will need a hotel for Nov 30-Dec 2 (Thurs to Sun). It should be the slow season so my plan to keep costs controlled was to wait until 2 weeks ahead and see what I could negotiate (expedia, call the desks directly, etc.). I am hoping for a suite but could book 2 rooms (4 adults, 2 kids). We are not fussy but do want something clean and would like to be walking distance from the parks.

Do you think I'm way off base here? Should I just book something now?

Well if you give it a few weeks, there probably will be more package deals to Disneyland for the off season. Right now there are *Summer Deals* which are really expensive, so if you wait a few weeks they will probably start promoting off season deals to attract visitors to the park.

Besides with the new event *Year of a million dreams* or whatever its called, there will probably be a lot of promotional stuff for that including good hotel deals. We just have to wait for the hype of the end of the 50th to calm down and end.

Oh and also check travelocity.com or .ca
They have much better deals I find then expedia. I am going to Disneyland in October for the off season and I did some searching on expedia but found some wicked wicked deals on travelocity. For some reason I find the prices on travelocity better then expedia. I got a hotel for a week with round flights for 2 for $500 a person.

I wouldn't think you'd have to do it this minute...
but since you want a suite I wouldn't wait too long to reserve something.

If you call you can just 'hold with a CC' rather than paying in full (travelocity, expedia). Then if you do find something better you can just cancel, but atleast you'll know you have a suite. If your going for a Disney hotel, they will usually let you change your reservation to take advantage of whatever new deal is out.

FYI, I got a better rate on the phone with the Sheraton Park than I could find on line.

I'll second Rella Bella's comments. My general strategy is to book something cancellable as soon as I'm sure I'm going, and then poke around for deals from time to time as the trip gets closer. That way at least I know I've got something, and can take my time looking for bargains.

I wouldn't wait to book until two weeks before you go but I don't think you have to jump right on booking this month.
