Am I just a lil bit crazy or is it normal to be totally overwhelmed before your first DCL?

It's all I can think about, all I can talk about and I've been picking up travel brochures from TAs just to see what they say about it!

Not just that but I'm so excited that I'm almost nervous.I keep worrying I'm gonna get on the boat and not know where to start!

I have a new question to post on here every ten minutes and even my boyfriend, who is really excited too, is getting fed up with me going on (and on and on and on) about it!

Am I totally crazy or was/is anyone else like this before their first time?

I just booked our first ever cruise with DCL and it's not until next summer so yes...I can definitely relate!! I keep thinking of new questions and read everything I can. I think this is the most excited I've ever been about a vacation! There is much to learn. These boards are great!

I just booked mid July for our Oct 9 cruise, because I knew I would wear myself out trying to plan, plan, plan and the anticipation would drive me nuts!
I'm counting the days....

I'm scared to re-book while on the cruise for same time next year, it just seems toooooo long to wait!!!

Thanks to this board for my daily Disney quick fix!! aaahhhh!

Our first cruise was just this past Spring. After a while I was as ready as I was going to be and the rest of the time I was spinning my wheels and burning with excitement. The time couldn't go fast enough. Fortunately, I have 3 kids to homeschool and that kept my mind off of the trip for a little while at a time. That's how bad it was and we only had three months between booking and boarding. This time around we booked 18 months ahead. It's agony!

No, I can promise you are NOT alone! I felt the very same way as you when we went on our first cruise back in January. I was so very excited about it. And even now, we have another booked for this January, and I am already beside myself about it. But of course I get nervous and ask myself if I really should be spending this much money, and I get scary thoughts in my head about what might happen...even nightmares :earseek: ...it's all part of the process!

I'm with you!!! I sometimes think I am crazy too. :crazy: :bounce: I have told everyone that I talked to so far today that we have less than 300 days until I am dancing with Mickeyat the sail away :boat: party!!!:dancer: :earboy2:
I sometimes have to contain myself from always talking about the things that we can do on the cruise, that is what happens when you get addicted to reading these boards!!!

Just wait until you start having the pre-cruise nightmares..then you will know you are getting close..lol.

We have our 1st cruise plannes in Feb of 06 w/ extended family and I think I am driving them all nuts with everything I am learning on here. :crazy:

You have just caught the DCL bug and are offically addicted!

I know it's hard to comprehend, but the most important thing you can do on your DCL Cruise is to RELAX!!!! Go with the flow, and let it happen, and Don't sweat the small stuff!
That is what it's all about. This is not the Magic Kingdom where you need to develop a stategy to see and do everything amongst huge crowds and long lines. Disney has really thought of everything to make you feel pampered and spoiled. The entire DCL staff will do whatever it takes to make you happy. It's part of there training not to say no.
Plan you excursions, Palos, spa treatments, etc, then sit back and enjoy yourself.

This is #6 for my wife and I and we still act and feel like its our first. There is a DCL bug and its going around.lol :rotfl2:

Hello, My name is Colleen and I am a DCL addict... The really sad part is my first DCL Cruise is still 7 months away...

Of course we have booked our second one - and that's 16 months away. Honest to God - I could get pregnant, have the baby and the child will be 5 months old by the time our second cruise comes around! :rotfl:

But that's not gonna happen! Just saying... :rotfl2:

Colleen I like the way you started this post. :cool1:

I think we need to start a support group like AA has. We can call it DCA=Disney Cruise Addict. :banana: :banana:

I hate to inform you that this condition may continue even after your cruise :) I've been on DCL 4 times over the past 5 years and I still talk about it and think about it 24/7/365!!! I wish I lived closer ...I'd be on it a lot more! Good luck and relax, it will be ok! you will have an incredible cruise! take lots of pix!

Count me in! We just got back from our first ever Disney cruise last Saturday. For weeks leading up to the cruise I couldn't go a day without this Board. And, as soon as I got home, what did I do? (Besides laundry) I ran straight to the computer to check the DISboard. My husband says I need a 12 step program! He is also beginning to think he'd get more of my attention if he started wearing Mickey ears. Love that mouse!

I am already researching prices for a cruise from Florida next year, so I imagine I will be hanging here for some time to come. At least I know I'm among like-minded cult members! It is so comforting!

I feel so glad i am not the only one who has the DCL fever. We have a land sea vacation planned in September and I am on the DIS boards every free and not so free moment. I am just overwhelmed with excitement. This is my first cruise and we are taking my 5 yr old son to Disney for the 1st time !!! Amoment I think my husband and I have dreamed about long before we even dreamedd of having children. Yesteraday I even found my self planning another DCL cruise that I would book on board . We will have to wait until 2007, we have an 8 month old and I would really like her to be 3 before we took her, but I'm sure that will go out the window once I board the Wonder. Have fun planning everyone and thank sor the advice. :banana: :Pinkbounc

I've started having those! One night I dreamed that they were making me sweep the ship with a broom! Just this weekend I dreamed that DH was so excited that he got on the wrong ship! I wonder what it all means! :confused3

been there - still there - and bringing family along this time - now they all can understand my excitement. SIL came to visit this weekend and brought all her paperwork with her to show me - now granted it is the same exact paperwork we all have -but she had to show everyone - and then she saw the PASSPORTER and flipped a gasket and was heading out to get one today - and our cruise is 16 monhts away - my first was in 2003 - and I still recall ALL OF IT!
so where do we sign up for our classes - but honestly do any of us want to be treated for this ? I kinda like it .....

::: stands - clears throat :::::
Hi my name is Lisa - I am a DIS addict and proud of it
:::sits down and misses chair:::

The first step is admitting you are a DCL fanatic... :cool1:

However - I can not advise you to stay away. That would make me a hyprocrite! :hyper2:

Looking forward to our next meeting!

Obsessed--yeah, that's the word my DH uses and now he's got my DS6 using it too :earboy2: !!! It started way before our trip to WDW and now we are finally cruising :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc !!! Of course from reading the trip reports and counting how many posts say the 3nt cruise is too short, I am bugging my TA to give us a quote on the 4nt :rolleyes1. Either way, I am so looking forward to this next trip and, with eyes glazed, am looking for every scrap of info that I can. Obsessed, of course!!!!
