I am currently selling my house. A few weeks ago, I came home after work and found my house in a bit of a disarray. This frequently happens after a showing, so normally I wouldn't have been too concerned, but there had been no showing scheduled that day.

I called my realtor and explained. She immediately came out to the house and removed the "lockbox" that the other realtors use to get in. She was going to take it to the Board of Realtors to have it "read" to find out if an unauthorized showing had taken place. Unfortunately, the person who needs to do this is on vaca, so it has to wait until they get back. I am okay with this, as my realtor has my key and she will be there to let any showings in.

Now the problem: Since the box has been removed (approx. 10 days), I have returned home several times to find my house just a bit "off". Lights on or off that weren't when I left, doors to rooms I haven't used in years open, blinds open in rooms I don't use, etc.

There are four keys to my house. Me, my realtor, my mom, and my best friend. All four are accounted for, and no one but me has been in the house in the past 10 days.

To be honest, this is kinda freaking me out. I figure there are a few possibilities: The house is haunted...I'm crazy...I have a "squatter"...

I really have no idea...

OMG, I would get the locks changed right away! that is scarey.

That would unnerve me, too. I don't think you're one bit crazy. You might want to have the doors rekeyed.

I'd change the locks. I'd feel a whole lot safer after they were changed!

I'd get a "nanny-cam" immediately! Be good to actually see just what's going on. :earseek:

I'd probably vchange the locks ASAP too. Those realtor lock boxes are fairly sturdy, but nothing is foolproof, and someone may have somehow gotten into it and made a copy of the key or whatever.

Yup! Change the locks ASAP! I'd even also get one of those "nanny cam" things

My vote is for getting the locks changed NOW. I wouldn't wait another night, that just gives me the creeps. If you can't do the cam thing do you have a neighbor or someone who can keep watch on the house during the day to see if they see anyone coming or going?

Keep us informed!

I agree with everyone who has suggested to change your locks... TODAY. I wouldn't take any chances. Freaky. Let us know what happens!

change the locks.

I would set up a small camera or something to find out what was going on, that is BIZARRE!
