OK, fellow solo travelers, am I crazy to be thinking about buying into the DVC? I did the math and the costs are actually better than I thought. So now I am debating about whether I should buy in at either SSR or the new villas at AKL. I really haven't thought about it before because I love to go different places and up until a few years ago I only did 1 vacation at most a year. But now, I am getting to 2 vacations a year. So, i could do WDW for one and still go somewhere else. How many of you solo travelers are DVC members?

I don't like Disney real estate. I think parks and entertainment available to everyone are more attractive. For the same reason I think rides and other attractions are preferable to retail stores. :cool2: :hippie:

After many trips to WDW, some solo, DVC was the best thing I ever did. Bought a small contract at OKW and plan to add-on as soom I get my loan paid off. I ust my points Sun. - Thurs., then stay somewhere else (value or off-site) on Fri. and Sat. nights since points double those nights.

no!!!

several of us singles and people who are married but their spouses aren't interested in WDW - own at DVC.

I have owned since 93, any particular question you have?

before you decide on SSR or AKV - you are aware that the other DVC resorts can be brought through resale.

there was a single/solo post not long ago asking about other DVCers. do a search for it.

Actually after doing the math that was why I did it in 2000, after visiting since mid 80's was sorry that I didn't do it sooner. Own at BCV and SSR. Just because you own at a specific resort doesn't limit you to staying only at that resort. Planning is the key. Any other questions PM me and I'll be glad to assist.

Thanks for the advice, I will check out some of the resale sites. I will probably also check out SSR during my trip in May.

Excellent idea! I was looking at the points required for SSR and even at 150 points, I could stay a whole week, but your suggestion is very interesting. I will definitely think about it.

The funny thing is that I briefly looked at it about 6 years ago and thought how expensive it is! :rotfl2: 6 or 7 years later, I'm going... Gee, its not so bad. Of course I have gone from a value/moderate girl to a deluxe girl!

I can definitely see your point. There always seems to be another way for me to spend money at WDW.

I think DVC is a great buy. I was a true skeptic until I went with my sister's family and fell in love with their place. Long story short, I'm a proud owner now at SSR and get lots of use out of it. It's not, I'm sure, the cheapest way to do WDW, but it's comfortable, welcoming and a true joy to me.
