We are planning a trip to BWV in early December. We are taking a few friends and I would love to book a 3 bedroom. Unfortunately, our home resort is HH and we will not be able to make our reservations until the 7-month window.

Am I crazy thinkinig we can pull this off? Or should I just start making other plans? DH wants BWV and a 2-bedroom would work since there are only 7 of us but I would like to invite another family and the 3rd bedroom would be great rather than booking separate rooms. I prefer OKW but have never booked the 3 bedroom there - although I've heard it's tough.

Anyone have any experience they'd like to share?

Crazy well.... I don't know you well enough to make that assesment but as for your booking question I'd say there is less than a 1% chance a GV will be available for early December. Really I'd be surprised if a 2 bedroom was available either.

You'll likely be staying at SSR in a 2 bedroom or maybe OKW if you are lucky.

Try day by day boking at 7 months also so call 7 months to the day of your check in.

While it could never hurt to call and ask when you can -- I'd definately have a "plan B" in mind. There are far less GV's at BWV than at OKW - this will not help.

There are only 7 Grand Villas at BWV and early December is a very popular time for DVC members to travel to WDW.

Your chances of booking it are quite small - best to have a back up plan.

Never hurts to try, though, so good luck!

The GVs seem popular year round, because I've tried to book them at both peak and non-peak travel seasons, and have had no luck. The one time I stayed in one was at OKW in late January, and our friends booked it at the 11-month window as it's their home resort.

If it turns out that the GV doesn't work, don't be too disappointed. It can be nice to book smaller rooms, too, if your situation allows, since it means more privacy for everyone. I love to put my DB and SIL in a studio by themselves, as often as possible. It works out better for everyone, know what I mean? ;)
It works out for us, as long as we have one bigger room to congregate in when meeting up in the morning or whenever...

Does anyone else think that with the AKV opening some rooms by Dec. that it may open up some of the rooms in the more sought after resorts? Here's hoping anyway.

Nope. With all the founding AKV members plus all the renters, there won't be much available.

Convert makes a good point.....you're better off trying for a grand villa at Old Key West. I'd go for it, though. Book as many nights as you can as soon as you can. There may well be gaps. But I'd book anyway and wait list for each day you need. I'd then call Member services every few days to try to fill the gaps. If you're getting pretty close and there are still gaps, my advice would be to try to book those nights for cash (with a Member discount, if possible) and then replace those with point nights when and if available.
I hope it works out for you.
John
