Am I crazy or R the AP and public rates very close?

... once you figure in the cost of an AP.

If you haven't already purchased an AP (especially if you don't live hear WDW), figure in the price of an AP ($403, right?) vs. a 5 day hopper at $245 for a difference of $158. The cost difference between an AP quote of $2158 vs. public of $2224 is a difference of $66.

So the AP quote is $91 more but you get free parking at the parks (not sure if that's including when staying at resorts) and discounts for lunch meals, shopping, spas, tours. And you have the AP in case you decide to return before a year is up <g>. I *wish* they would allow this AP for Disneyland on the west coast as well... but even without that, it seems like a better deal to buy it than not to unless there is something I'm missing??

Many people will say that 8 days is the breakeven point for an AP, however there are a lot of extra perks....if you are into shopping while you are down there you also get 10% off in DTD ai the big Disney store there. And as you mentioned if you go again within a year you dont have to buy tickets again. So if you think there is a chance you will go back within 12 months do the ap, PLUS when you reneew your AP its cheaper

For the last year+, getting an AP just for the room discounts doesn't pay. In May, the Difference between the General Public and AP was $5/day (depending on type of resort, but the $5 was for Deluxes). The old days of getting a percentage discount is no longer. It seems to be a flat amount discount, so the percentages will vary based on the cost of the room.

So, as the previous paster said, get an AP if you are staying longer than 8 days in a given year.
