Am I crazy or did PotC lose its distinctive smell?!

DD and I were at the parks Wed-Thurs. On Wednesday, as we were stuck on PotC for 20 minutes just before the unloading dock (we were eventually evacuated off) DD turned to me and said, "Hey.... I don't smell the smell. You know, that PotC water scent that's so recognizable they made a candle out of it?" Like, you could blindfold me and put me there and normally I'd know where I was in an instant just from the smell of the water-- not unpleasant, just kinda pungent. I seriously couldn't smell it. Just kind of water, neutral.

Anybody else there recently that noticed this?

I wouldn't mind if it went away. I'm not a huge fan of mildew and bromine. At least it sort of goes with the ride, though.

It looks like there may have been some strides made during the closure in alternatives to Bromine, which is what gives it that distinctive smell and the Alternatives may be cheaper, so it may be a thing of the past.

My daughter commented yesterday as we were boarding that you can buy a candle now that smells like Pirates. I said, “so it smells like mildew?”

She told me to stop ruining her childhood.

That smell is Bromine.

The water smell is at least. You also have the burning and citrus scents they inject.

Yes he is. DD16 thinks he's the creepiest part of the ride LOL Maybe it was just that we boarded quickly after coming in from the bright sunshine outside but last time it did seem darker in that area and a little more difficult to see him.
