Am I crazy or am I sane?

As a former retail worker,I know how totally insane it is on that particular day. For the life of me,I cannot figure out why people would drive themselves crazy pushing and shoving and attempting to actually buy anything on that one day. It's not like they are going to run out of clothing or shoes or electronics or whatever. It'll all still be there the next day,the next week, the end of the month.

Am I nuts for not going shopping that day, or just a little more sane than the rest of you?

I agree. I think it is nuts. I've been looking at the ad fliers online too and the deals really aren't that great either. All that hassle for saving so little.

If I do go out on black friday it is at night, well after the crowds have gone home.

Former retail worker too so maybe it's because we've seen it from the other side.

I haven't done it in about 20 years. It's just not worth it to me. There is nothing I need that bad. I also don't find any of the "deals" that appealing. I really don't want a $13 DVD player. Sorry. Just don't.

After Thanksgiving, I won't go near a mall on the weekend. I usually try to do a little bit of shopping here and there on my way home from work. Another good time to go (on the weekend) is as soon as the stores open on Saturday or Sunday morning. People STILL can't get up and get going early. I find that if I'm in the mall by 9:00 and out by 12:00, it's pretty good.

I go out every year and I do not push or shove. I also am totally sane. It is a tradition, my girls love to go with me now. We shop early and then go our for breakfast. MY oldest DD is upset because she now has to work that day and can't go with us. I'm usually done by noon and I have the whole day to myself. I haven't checked out any of the sales, but I never go for the "big" deals like TV's, I go for the sales on clothes. (like $9.99 jeans that are usually 40.00 or more)

if your not going, maybe you could get your son a appointment at the specialist

You are much saner than the rest. ;)

I already finished my shopping just so I can avoid going anywhere near a mall from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

I think you really have to like shopping in order to enjoy the day after Thanksgiving. I hate shopping all year long so there's no way I would go when it's insane.

My mother on the other hand thinks it's fun to wake up at 5 am and get to the shops early. Then she whips out her flyers so they can price match. I went once with her (ONCE!). I would have paid triple to have avoided what we went through!!

That was unneccessary. That thread was killed already.

TOV--Yes, I actually agree with you on this. I don't get the pushing or shoving either.

I like it 'cause it seems like a challange. :goodvibes

No way am I going out to fight the crowds and stand in line. But...
might go just to laugh at all of you shopping. :rolleyes1

No way Jose. I am not shopping on Friday. The only plans have are my husband and I are going to go see Walk the Line and the theater is 5 miles from here.

I'll go with sane. I've been BF shopping one time and never again. I love to save money but nothing is worth all that!

I love shopping on black Friday. I'm upset that this year I have to work :(

I get on a mission and usualy get most of my shopping done that day.

I used to go and people watch. Now I just like to relax at home and enjoy leftovers and a good movie on DVD with my DS.

Last year there was only 1 thing I really wanted and I was able to order it online.

Online shopping is the best thing ever invented!

I'll shop from behind my laptop or I'll do without.

I agree the deals this year aren't very good.

Snoozin' in my nice cozy bed...best place to be the Friday after Thanksgiving! I try to not shop ANYWHERE this whole week.

That is the reason DD and I go every year. It is the challenge and I guess the thrill of the hunt. :)

I guess more than anything I'm glad I don't have to deal with the insane shoppers this year on Black Friday. I mean it's freaking crazy how some people will stand in line for HOURS on end to buy a supercheap something or other.

Even after all the responses to this thread, I still don't get it.

I never go shopping on that day. I have lost my patience for crowds as I have gotten older.
