Am I crazy? Infant in WDW...

We went last august with our then 7 month old son and it was really hot at the MK = high 90s... After his first haircut (which was supercute with the Mickey ears they give!) I laid out a route through all the airconditioned shops to the baby care center. We must have spent hours there in the baby care center....back and forth between rides and for naps. Only did a few rides but we hadn't planned on really doing many as we were expecting it to be busy (which it was) and so we did the Pooh ride, Its a small world (where I nursed for a short while in my sling!) and Philarmagic (alittle loud I think for the baby but he didn't seem too bothered by it.) I made my own solarveil sling and carried him and also held a large umbrella to shield from the sun (also cooled us somewhat) and also had two clipfans for the stroller and a pocket mister which I sprayed on all of us every so often. Best part of the day was lunch at Crystal Palace. Would I do it again??? Probably not even though we got some great photos...the heat really was dreadful and we were happier just spending time at the pool the rest of the week and venturing out at night to nice restaurants to catch some Disney magic! Plus the crowds were insane!

We are headed in May with our 8 week old. I'm glad I found this thread.

I've been to WDW twice but I am a little worried about buses and having to stop and feed him so much. I am also nursing. I am consisdering that sling now.

We are also traveling with our 4 and 2 year old so we will be the crazy parents if anyone see's us!

I don't know if you found a place to buy a solarveil sling. But I just did a search and found a bunch of places. Kangarookorner.com, pookabay.com, babymoonslings.com just a few. I didn't check prices to find the best deal though. I haven't personally used this sling. But since you got so many recommendations! I still advocate the nursing cape. Especially for a baby like a PP's who's baby liked to expose everything. So did mine! And I didn't have to worry at all. Have fun!

Thanks for the ideas on where to get the sling. I'll have to do that. Last time I bought a second hand sling that was WAY too big to cinch up on me, because I didn't really get how you were supposed to do it. So I could use a sling this time anyways!

I'm not too worried about the heat b/c if it's really hot, i'll stay by the pool with dd and dh and ds will go to the parks. Also, there are plenty of air-conditioned shows I can take in and meet up with dh after. We'll have to see how it goes.

Fofinia had some good suggestions for solarveil slings. My personal fave pouch sling was my kangaroo korner one. I do know hotslings.com sells them too. A google search should pull up more. The other great thing about the solarveil is that if you want to get in the water with the baby, it's dry really quickly.

I am also expecting on May 1. We are booked for mid June. The baby will be about 7 weeks too. I also have a 2 year old and we first took her at 3 months.. We go just about every year so it's not like we're in a rush to get things done and we can go at a slower pace (10 nights/11 days). Everyone we know thinks we're nuts..but, taking our then 3 month old was so easy..she slept and drank her bottles..I did have to wake for evening feedings..but, my familly sleeps through anything. We are so excited about going and can't wait!

My ds's first trip was when he was 5 weeks old. I know he wasn't the youngest baby to ever go to disney but it's funny how many comments you get bringing a newborn. We went at the end of March and it was really pleasant during the day but pretty chilly at night. Since it wasn't hot, I tucked a lightweight blanket around his legs and arms through the snugli to block the sun. I don't think we ever put him in the stroller; just used it for dd and kept ds in the snugli. I was nursing but took formula in case grandma had him when he was hungry. I did a lot of feedings on out of the way benches or at night during fireworks, etc. It was one of the easiest trips with him. I miss that now that I have to use the stroller and bring snacks and cups and toys. Also, disney must have worked its magic on him b/c it was the first time he slept for a stretch of at least 6 hours a night.
