not jumping ship for FD??? I just can't decide, if LM are excluded again in Jan for FD, part of me feels like I don't want to jump ship to POP and just suck it up and hope for a room only...even though I know it won't save near as much.
We are definetly on a budget but I feel like we will only go to Disney probably twice with our kids so I feel like I should just stay wherever I really want to stay this time! AHHH how will I decide!
I just know my kids will go crazy over the Cars stuff and the Lion King stuff...:confused3

If I visited every year, I might consider going to another resort this time for a deal, but since I don't think I'll be able to visit again (at least not for a long time), I want to stay at AoA! The theming inside the rooms looks great, and the movies featured at the resort are some of my favorites.

You can always take them over to AoA to look at the car stuff! As nice as it seems, it's just a hotel room. I'd stay at the resort that offers the best value for your dollar. Since it's you first jaunt to WDW, you'll most likely be scouring the parks and using the rooms to sleep in mostly anyway.

If they offered way better amenities at one over the other I could see not wanting to move, but other than the indoor hallways and some fancy paint jobs, a value is a value.

This is just my opinion, but once my kids see something cool once or twice it isn't a big deal anymore, and I'd kick myself in the a** for not getting FQSD because the hotel is a little newer or prettier.

I'm going to have to say the PP is right. I would consider jumping ship. Not to Pop though. How much more would it be to go to POR and stay in a Royal room? Or at least consider at Moderate. The upgrade on dining would allow you to have some TS and make the trip really special if it's the last one for a long time.

I would think long and hard about all the options. But if you decide to stick to your guns... I support that decision too.:thumbsup2

It does seem like a lot of people switch to POR but it seems strange to me...but I haven't crunched the numbers but if I pay more for a Mod, than I could have just payed for dining at AOA...

You can plan your meals to be easier on the wallet (more QS vs TS and if you have a car you can always eat off WDW property)

I'd stay where you feel you can make the most memories. If you think your kids would love an AoA suite then by all means I'd stay there if it's in the budget.

I think the LM room she is booked for is a standard value rooms.

I think they're assuming you are staying in a family suite, which would be not much less than a room at POR, and you'd be more likely to get FD. You are booked for a standard LM room correct? In that case it does cost quite a bit more to upgrade.

Yes, sorry we are booked in LM!:)

Well I'm sure whatever decision you make will be the right one for you. Just remember that you can stay at POP and still hop over to AoA (next door) for a visit to see all the giant stuff outside.

Good Luck pixiedust:

We were going to stay at All Star Sports and just upgrade the dining plan. I was 100% sure of this. My wife called and booked us at PORFQ. Nobody was more shocked than me. Turns out it was only about $115 to upgrade considering at the moderate resorts you get the standard dining plan vs the quick service plan at the values.

Having the queen beds was the selling point I think. But if there was no free dining when we went, I am sure we would be staying at All-Star Sports and trying to budget as much as we can. Food adds up very fast.

well I read they were booked at LM but then said something about Cars and Lion King so wasn't sure if they were keeping LM or looking at a suite.

Most go to POR b/c for 5 people it's the cheapest option onsite

Is it a first time visit? I missed that along the line. Values are recommended for first time visitors b/c of the themeing. You lose the themeing some say when you move up to moderates and higher.

I think I'd probably jump ship on the LM room to save $$ personally but not sure I'd move to POP. I'd probably move up to a moderate to get regular dining vs QS. There's not but a couple hundred dollar difference in a value with upgraded dining vs a moderate with regular dining (assuming FD is offered for your time)

It is our first trip! I just mentioned the lion king and Cars cause we will be able to see them even though we will be in LM.

How far is the walk from POP?
