Dh and sons and I are staying at the PBH for our anniversary in a few weeks. I just talked to the concierge to arrange for a treat to be sent to the room. He suggested some chocolates, and when I inquired about the price he told me it would be $60!! EEK.

No way you arent cheap! I would call and ask if they have something in your price range. I bet they come up with something. :) I know they have chocolate covered strawberries that were yummy and not priced that high.

Wow...are the chocolates made of gold? :p

Jessica - friends of ours just celebrated an anniversary and we had some chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne sent to their room. It cost $40 (okay, so the champagne wasn't Dom Perignon but they still enjoyed it!) It was a Sheraton - but I'm sure Loew's could do something similar for under $50. They would probably have some sparkling juice for the kids.

If you have your heart set on nice chocolates you could always bring some from home - although the packing could be tricky if it is 90 degress......

Thanks for reinforcing my opinion and for your suggestions! Unfortunately dh doesn't like strawberries so they are not an option. I think maybe we will just try a fabulous dessert from Mama Dellas.

If u have 2 or more weeks b4 u go then log on to www.loews.com...apply for a loews card (FREE!!) and then when u check in they will ask what FREE item u would like waiting in ur room...either a bottle of wine, bottled water or milk and cookies. We asked for the cookies and milk and the cookies were the BEST I have ever tasted (Big, homemade!!) Just a thought to have a special treat without spending any extra money (and u can get a free newspaper too!)

A suggestion-
There are many florists and gift-basket companies that will deliver to the hotels. When I was staying at Embassy Suites in Tampa on my daughter's birthday I called a local florist and had them deliver a bouquet and balloons to our hotel while we were visiting the parks (I paid 40 dollars by credit card over the phone). I let the front desk people know it was coming and they made sure it was sent to the room so my daughter had a great surprise when we opened the door that evening.
In fact you most likely could arrange something like that through your own local florist.
Another idea is to call ahead and see if room service could arrange to send up a decorated cake as a surprise desert to a romantic in room dinner.
Hope this helps :jester:

If they are the chocolates they used to use for concierge when they had it...I would pay $60 in a heartbeat.
