room only rate now, or should I book a room only rate at full price, wait till codes come out for December 2009, and then apply the codes to my existing reservation?

I don't want to be told something dumb like "You have to book only through AAA".

I'm also wondering... AKL or Wilderness Lodge? And how are they for big families?

My husband and I really want either of those resorts, but his family has expressed an interest in going as well which would mean three more adults and two children (ages 10 and 13). Money is a serious issue with his family but not so much for us.

You can book a room only with the AAA discount directly through Disney (I did). If you want a AAA package, you have to go through AAA. Either way, though, if you want to apply a code, you'll have to choose between AAA or the code; Disney doesn't let you "stack" discounts.

I'd suggest booking your room now with the AAA discount. The discount can only be used on a certain number of rooms at each resort, and you don't want to find out later that you've missed out on it.

snykymom has the right idea.

There is ZERO advantage to booking at full price now. If you skip the AAA discount now, and there is no discount code later, then you'll be stuck paying full price.

If you go through Disney and book the room-only AAA rate now, that in NO WAY prevents you from taking advantage of a discount code later. You can't stack discounts and use 2 at one time (as I'm sure you know), but when the code comes out you can call Disney and ask the CM the price of the room with the code, compare that with your AAA discounted reservation, and then decide which is cheaper. You'll pick the one that's cheaper.

But if you book at full price now, there is a chance you'll end up paying full price.
