Am I being delusional?

I am thinking that we will not need a stroller this trip for DD. She is turning 6 5 weeks before we leave and has not used a stroller since our June 05 trip. We are planning on 5 pretty full park days. We are driving so we might take one from home if anyone thinks we will need it.

I would bring it with you. Try no stroller the first day and if she is ok great, but if she ends up wanting it you have it. The other option would be to skip it and know that renting one is still an option. I will say that my DS was 8 on our last trip and he hoped in the double rental stroller a lot. I am not sure if it was because he was really tired or because it was there so he used it. When he did use it it was usually after we had been there for a while and we were also so hot that may have had something to do with it. We are going in 17 days and our DD turns 6 while we're there and I think I'll try without it but keep it as an option. I figure someone can always go back to the front gate to get one it we decide we need it and them get the ticket for several days at that point.

I would bring it.

DS's first trip to WDW was when he was 6 plus a few months.
He hadn't sat in a stroller in ages, but we brought it & he sat in it everyday.

When we went again the next year, we brought it & he didn't use it once.
I think we left it in WDW for any other family to take.

Our ds was almost 4 (and 10 months, lol) on our last trip, and almost 4 on the trip before, and he hasn't used a stroller at all. I am taking the stroller for our 3-yo this time, but I don't expect that he'll use it.

You know your own child best. We went a few years ago with an 11yo, just-turned-7yo, 5 yr old, and 2 yr old. We brought a stroller for the 2yo, and intended to rent a WDW one if necessary, for the 5 + 7yo. We did 7 park days in a row and never rented a stroller, they just didn't need it.

Last year, we went and the kids were just-turned 13, just-turned 8, 6, and turning-4. We brought the stroller thinking the 4yo would mostly ride, and the 6yo could ride periodically if he needed a break. Well, for 8 parkdays in a row, we pushed a stroller with Pal Mickey in it. Not a single child's bottom touched that stroller seat.

Next trip, we will just forget the stroller. We will budget $ to rent one, on the off chance we need one. (It will be WONDERFUL to not lug a stroller on and off the buses!)

well there is always a lot of back and forth both ways on these threads. But if you are driving anyways why not throw it in the car and that way you have it with you. I have always used one. And planned on bringing one for evenings (we often go back to the resort in the afternoon for a nap or just a break and to freshen up) and our kids will be 7 and 8. however Since I haven't located it since our move i'm thinking I dont have one anymore. Whatever works for you is what you should do. You dont even have to take it out of your car unles you notice at some point that she gets too tired and you can get it out for the next time.

I agree. Do you know that you walk an average of 5-15 miles a day in the parks? That is a lot of walking, and honestly, whether they want to ride or not, I insist at least a few times a day or the poor things would be worn out(like they are not already!) Definately bring it if you have the room. We brought one the first time we went when the babies were 1. After that we always rent one from the park because it it easy to handle and lightweight, esp. when you are pushing two kids. The two now 4 year olds use it off and on, and my now almost 11 year old also uses it a couple of times a day when he is really tired or hot or just needs to rest. It is also handy for them to sit in when you are heading across the park and they can eat a snack and take a nice quick rest. The rest of the time we use it for our HUGE stuffed backpack! It is worth it just for that.
Also the stroller comes in handy to get to rides quickly. You can push it a lot faster than they can walk.:wizard:

We went to Disneyland, California Adventure, LegoLand and Sea World the week my son turned six and he walked everywhere. We paced ourselves, and took breaks for snacks or shows so we weren't running nonstop.

We liked the freedom of not having to go back to the beginning of the ride to fetch the stroller, not having to park the stroller, being able to hop on and off the train or the Main St vehicles.

You can always rent one if your daughter gets tired.

I wouldn't bring it. Why take up all the room in the car. My DS 5 didn't use a stroller for a week when we were there over Easter 2 yrs ago and had very long days open till close. We didn't even think about it this trip when he was 7 and again no problem. He has more energy and stamina than I do, and he certainly is in better physical shape!!!

My older dd turned 5 while we were there in January. On day 1, we just brought the single for dd 1.5. By lunch, dd 5 was a blob of jello. When we came back after lunch we decided to rent a double for the rest of the trip!

If you can condition her with walking, she will be fine as long as you watch for tiredness and take breaks when needed.

We just went with DD7, but she was six at the time. She has been walking for over a year and a half, and she did fine. She walks almost a mile to school and more in the summers and over vacations. She did fine at WDW with afternoon breaks.

That being said, I wasn't against renting a stroller in order to avoid sacrificing family harmony. I didn't tell her this, but I was open to it if needed.
