If I book the "web only" fare now, and I get a "ding" fare later for the same flight, would I be able to get a refund for the difference? I can't find it anywhere on the Southwest website

Thanks

You would get a ticketless travel credit that would be valid for 1 year from the date of original ticket purchase. Not the day you change the ticket, or the day of your flight, the day of your original purchase..

Thank you very much!!

One more question, would I be able to use the credit to book for travel on a later date (past the one year mark), or does travel have to be completed by the one year mark?

Thanks

As dburg stated..valid for one year from the date of original purchase. You 'may' be able to get an extension but they will charge you for it...to the best of my knowledge.

When you cancel your "web only" fare, use the travel credit to purchase your DING fare. Travel would have to be completed within 1 year of the original purchase date.

I just did this today. You don't have to cancel your orginal reservation to get the credit. On Southwest's home page you open the view or change flights tab. You then put in the confirmation number and your first and last name. Then you choose a new flight (which would be your ding price). Confirm by pressing the accept change button. Whatever credit you now have will be applied as a credit to a ticketless travel fund. You will retain your orginal confirmation number this way.

If that's how they are doing ding fares now that's great. Wasnt so long ago that if you wanted a ding fare, you had to basically get ready with 2 browsers open, get up to the payment page of the ding fare, then cancel your other flight and then apply the credits to the new ding fare.

Southwest occasionally have some really witty flight crew members who rap, or make hilarious comments concerning the safety onboard, I bet that makes up for some wait times etc.. :P

You can do this for lower fares offered through regular booking, but you can't do this with DING fares.
