Greetings!

Am I the only one here who doesn't make PS ressies before their trip? We're staying Polynesian LV Concierge in October and I just filled out our Personal Vacation Itinerary and didn't list one restaurant. In fact, in all of our trips, I've never made a PS prior to arriving at WDW.

Please note that I'm an over-planner just like the rest of you - - but I've just never been able figure out three months in advance if we'll even want a sit-down meal at lunch or dinner on Thursday, much less what kind of food we'll be in the mood for.

I understand the special cases - CRT, HDDR, CG, V&A, EIEIO - but what is the reason for making early PS at all the others? Is it that you look forward to a specific dining experience, much like Spectro or Fantasmic, or is it just that you're worried about not being to find a place to eat?

Disclaimer - I'm not judging anyone who makes early PS, I'm just trying to figure out if I'm missing something. :)

Thanks,
Erick

Fear not, my friend. For you are not alone. There are others like you.

Click the link below, PS heretic, for you are a dangerous sort, living on the edge, throwing caution to the wind, and other such cliches. Come, take my hand, and together let's see/read what others have to say:

The reasons I make PS's are probably not why everyone else makes them but I'll share my 2cents. I go on the gold plan which includes 3 meals a day so I know that I'll be eating 3 sit down meals everyday. I'm also going in Aug which I know is a busy time. While I won't make a PS for breakfast other than a character meal and sometimes I'll wing it for lunch unless I know I'll be hungry or I want to be sure to eat somewhere around a certain time (ie. arrival day i have lunch at 1:30 at LTT, I know we will be hungry by then if not earlier and don't want to wait very long to eat). As for dinner I try and make a PS for all of them b/c I do not want to end up waiting an hour just to get a table somewhere like Yachtsmans or CRT. Since I know I'm eating a sit down meal, making a PS helps me not forget to eat (like I wouldn't be hungry anyway) and makes sure I get to eat at all the places I would like to without too much of a wait.

When I was younger and went with my family we often wouldn't make a PS for any meal other than dinner and often that was just the day before or day of. Now that I'm older I pretty much know when I get hungry and if I need to make changes once I'm there its just a phone call away. I'm also very forgetful so I probably would forget to call in the morning to get a table somewhere for dinner and them be mad b/c I didn't get to eat where I wanted to. I can remember going in the summer when I was younger and we only ended up eating at Coral Reef b/c the wait everywhere else we like in Epcot was too long - and I hate seafood but we were all hungry and were on the gold plan and didn't want to waste it on counter service (thank god they serve steak too).

Okay enough of my explanation. It probably doesn't help you since my situation is pretty unique with the gold plan but I figured I'd share anyway.

Folks,

I looked for another thread covering this - honest I did. But the esteemed Michiganian / Michigander hucifer found it for me.

As the previous poster mentioned, I know pretty much when I get hungry and when at Disney we like to eat 2 meals a day. Usually one late buffet breakfast and a counterservice dinner. Since our breakfasts are usually character meals, I like knowing I've got a ps for a specific time. It actually helps with my planning. I would never make a ps for a character breakfast at some place like Cape May Cafe for 11:00 am and be at the Animal Kingdom that morning then have to hurry over clear across Disney "country" for a meal. I always coordinate our character breakfasts with our park activity. For instance in August, I have CRT booked for an MK morning and PSB for our Epcot day.

It's just the way I have always planned our trips. At the thought of going on a trip and not having at least 1 ps per day, I feel like I might break out in hives :p . Maybe one day when it's just me and DH and we can really take it easy, I'll give the no ps a try but I just can't part with it right now!!!!!
