Question- we are staying offsite, but there will be 2 mornings we will be going to an am emh park(hard to avoid Christmas week!). Do they start letting guests in exactly at the opening time, or a little early like they do on non emh days? Just wondering how early I should get to the parks. Thanks!

Studios has been allowing guests in 15 minutes prior to the scheduled EMH opening.

I don't think that's the answer to quietgirll's question.

I think the answer is that (on an AM EMH morning) NON-resort guests should arrive about 30 minutes before the "regular" opening time and expect to be let into the park at very nearly the straight-up "regular" opening time, and not much before that time.

But, there's just no way to know for sure for any given day, so that's why I suggest that you try to time it to arrive about 30 minutes before.

(That is going to be a difficult feat to time properly, however. Especially difficult to time at MK.)

Thanks robo, that is the question i was asking. So, I assume there will every clearly marked "turnstiles" (altho of course they aren't anymore) for us to line up?

The CM's will be directing heavy traffic (guests) to the correct spots.

It's not the best of situations, I'm afraid.
Be prepared for some confusion and delays.

And, AM EMH mornings MK can exhibit a particular "situation" for off-site guests who arrive early.

The CM's tend to hold the off-site guests, streaming in from the MK parking lot, at the loading areas for the monorail and ferry boats, and not take those guests over to the MK gates until much closer to "regular" opening time.
That way, there are not so many guests in the MK gates area, some of whom cannot get in until regular opening time.

It makes it very difficult for an off-site guest to plan exactly what time they should head to MK on AM EMH days.

As I said, be prepared for some confusion and delays.

I'm sure it is hard to avoid, but if there is any way to change your park days...I would do that. You'll lose the benefit of rope drop by a lot.

Pretty much impossible Christmas week. Disney will do AM EMH at MK most, if not all, days.

For AK at least, i was onsite but did not do emh that day. I arrived 5 min before regular opening and walked in past very long lines. They let them in exactly at opening.

Oh, I should have looked at the calendar before I posted. Good for onsite guests, but bad for offsite.

In our experience, which was at Epcot and not during Christmas week, we were held at the turnstiles until exactly 9 am and not a moment before. It would still be a good idea to get there earlier if you can so you will at least be further ahead in the line. The day we did it, we were only a few families back, but as it got closer to 9 am, the line behind us was growing by the minute.

Yeah I wish- not an option unfortunately :( thanks everyone for your input :)

Hmmm...might be worth walking over to the poly and taking the monorail from there maybe? Or, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other?

You're going Christmas Week.

All bets are off. ;)

I was just at MK on an EMH morning and entered about 8:30 using an AP. After getting let in I asked how they know I am eligible for early entry since I was not entering with a KTTW card. The woman told me that the early entry people were already in and that I was not early (even though there was still 25 to 30 minutes until official opening time. I did arrive on Disney transportation so if they hold people at the parking lot like Robo suggested that would make sense.
