AM EMH at AK (No Thrills!)

We are considering taking our 34 month old granddaughter to the morning Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom and will only be doing things that she will enjoy-no Flight of Passage/Dinosaur/Everest.

How are the lines at the other attractions? We were thinking about heading for the Safari first then over to Dinoland. I hope to get a FP for Navi and a 10:45(ish) ADR at Tusker House.

Does this sound doable on the Monday before Thanksgiving? Our granddaughter is a VERY early rise!

Its hard to tell if they will continue EMH once the parks reopen.
If you avoided FoP, the other rides had very short lines. Safari was hit or miss whether it was open during EMH.

Depending on the 34 month old, there may not be a lot there for her.

With a 3 year old - there will be less people than mid-day in AK
Also a 3 year old tend to get up early and nap in the afternoon
So what I would do early AM entry into AK:

Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail (subject to availability) - great pictures to take

It's Tough to be a Bug! - sit forward when the bees come out - you will feel a small poke in your back
Not good for a young child - can be scary for them. There is also a stinky scene, I do not remember when, hold your nose - check it out on you-tube

Kilimanjaro Safaris (subject to availability) - sit with your young child between 2 adults, can be bumpy
but great pictures of animals in the AM - the animals are out having breakfast

Na'vi River Journey - could be a dark ride - depending on your child - what we have done is to get a mini flashlight - hold it down into the ride seat , so not to disturb others, but gives the small child a sense of security

Mini-Flashlight works on other rides in WDW too.
Worked very well when we went to WDW with our young DD and DS

I personally would save my money and just rope drop AK. All the crowds will be heading to the rides you don’t want to do anyway. Maybe spend the money on a character meal she’d enjoy or a fireworks party or boat ride.

You should be able to pretty much walk on everything else, since the attractions everyone else will be heading to will be the ones you are skipping. We found morning EMH at AK when our boys were 3&5 was lovely! We did the Safari and Gorilla Falls trail first. Dinoland was mostly empty, so we did Triceratops Spin and then were among the first to meet Pluto and Goofy when they came out.

EMH (Extra Magic Hour) doesn’t cost extra. It’s a perk for Disney resort guests and we’ll be at Ft Wilderness.

Sorry, I was thinking of early morning magic but that’s at MK. I know EMH are free to onsite guests, I’m a DVC member and have visited every year for my entire life. I can’t believe myself, must’ve been having a brain fart,lol.

I would skip It's a Bug's Life. It is extremely dark, loud and scary for young children.

My kids were early risers too when they were small. We always made use of EMH in the morning.

My kids enjoyed the shows: Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo. Another fun place was the Boneyard play structure in Dinoland. Get there before it gets too hot!

She might also enjoy the train ride to Rafiki's Planet Watch.

Try to snag the latest breakfast time at Tusker House. Getting up early, you will be ready for yummy breakfast/lunch!

When my kids were that age they loved all the animal trails and the affection section. And of course KS. And we eat at Tusker House every trip and the kids love the characters.

When we took my 2 year old nephew, he loved the Boneyard playground and played there for a long time while the rest of us took turns riding Dinosaur! He also really liked Triceratops Spin and would ride it as many times as possible. The Lion King show was a big hit (he stood with his mouth open the whole time!) and he liked the Safari. We didn't risk Tough to be a Bug - it's scary! There are always lots of crying kids on their way out. I think it would be fun for a 5 or 6 year old, but not a 3 year old.

I highly suggest the boneyard as well. If you head there first thing she should have most of the place to herself. (fun for carefree adults as well!)

The Boneyard is great, but make sure to check the website, app, or Times Guide when there to confirm opening time. It often opens at 10am, so not first thing.
