It sounds like Castaway Cay is in good shape for stops soon... Although I have set myself up for the possibility of it not being ready for my Oct. 9th cruise.

However Grand Cayman on the Western ittn is in the direct path of Ivan! If there is substantial damage at GC what do you think Disney will do for the next few cruises? Has this port been substitute in the past, if so with what port? Fingers are crossed for the 10/9 sailing....

Thoughts and prayers are with all the people in Jamaica and GC, and where ever else Ivan may travel to!

Unless something else comes up to change the schedule the Magic won't be going to Grand Cayman until Tuesday, Sept. 28th. Even with lots of damage it's possible that they may be able to have tourists by then since it's over two weeks away. I'm sure the government of Grand Cayman will do everything they can to get things repaired to keep the tourist income coming in.

I've also heard good reports on the boards about Costa Maya so maybe Disney would consider going there if they knew in advance that GC were unavailable.

Was on the 8/14 Western. They replaced Grand Cayman with the pit...I mean port... of Nassau.

I just read that Ivan skimmed the caymans with minimal damage, good news hey. for us and the caymanians

Skimming the coast with a hurricane this size doesn't mean the Cayman Islands were left unscathed. The eye never went over Jamaica either.

Miss Jasmine , I didn't mean it lightly it was a direct quote from a news site and was stating that they hadn't had the battering that grenada had received, the latest i have just read on another news site from a couple of minutes ago states

Quote "The center of Hurricane Ivan passed to the south of the Cayman Islands, and appears headed for a direct strike on Cuba. just as it spared Jamaica from catastrophic damage, Ivan spared The Caymans. The center of the storm passed about 80 kilometers south of Grand Cayman, uprooting trees, and ripping off roofs. But Ivan did not bring the sort of devastating destruction to The Caymans it brought to Grenada last week, where it destroyed more than 80 percent of the structures on the island.

Ivan is forecast to strike Cuba early Monday. The center of the storm is expected to pass over land, somewhere west of the capital Havana.

as always wishing and praying for safety for those in it's path and affected by charlie and frances.
