My DH and I have a strange situation for our October trip. We're going down to WDW as a side trip to a concert. We'll be staying at OKW. We're trying to find a way to get a ride from OKW to the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee and then back to OKW after the show. We've called some of the towncar companies, and they basically want us to charter a car and schedule a specific pick up time and location, but that's difficult to do because we don't know what time the show will end or what's in the area.

We were thinking we could just take a taxi to and from the show. I know it won't be a problem to get a taxi at OKW, but I'm not sure how difficult it will be to get one after the show. We'll have a cell phone, so we can use that to call for one if need be.

Anyone know about how much it would cost for a taxi? Mapquest says it's about 15 miles and 27 minutes of travel time from OKW to the arena.

Any other ideas other than the taxi? That sounds like the best idea to us because the town car services want any where from $80 up to $200 which seems a little steep to me.

BTW, we don't want to do a rental car. We don't want to try to find our way around a strange place at a late hour (plus DH doesn't like to drive at night).

Sorry this got so long. TIA for any help or insight.

Don't know what a taxi would cost for that distance but it cost my daughter $10 to go from the Dolphin (after she returned her rental car) to OKW. I think I would reconsider renting a car. Is this arena right off 192? It shouldn't be too hard to find if that is the case and maybe you could do a dry run during the day. I also don't like driving to places I'm not familar with and hate driving at night but don't hesitate while at WDW and depending on the week involved it may not be too busy around there. I just stay off I4. There was also a thread that warned about only using certain taxis - I think it was yellow- so you might want to check with the desk at OKW or do a search for that thread. Maybe someone has a phone number for them so you could call now and get an estimate. Good luck and hope you have an enjoyable time.

We talked about it some more and decided a rental car may not be so bad. The price is a lot less than the transfers, so we will probably do that. I doubt we'll have time to do a dry run to the arena during the day because we're arriving late Thursday night and the concert is on Friday (and we want to spend as much time as possible at Disney).

The rental will also gives us the chance to do a grocery stop (we're staying in a 1 bedroom villa at OKW). We wanted to do the grocery stop to get breakfast foods and some snacks and stuff to save some money.

Thanks for the help!

On a side note, DH wanted to know if the towncar companies are always rude and unpleasant when you call? He said they were very rude (especially mears and TTC).

Thanks again!
Jenny

I have called a LOT of towncar/limo companies over the past months & the ONLY one that I thought had really good customer service skills was Southern Elegance, so that's who we booked with. To me, that is so important.
